I looked around briefly but didn't notice any threads on this on the main boards.
What does the sliding scale on reputation look like? I've been running L2 Q5-11 agent missions this weekend and I noticed that I hit some sort of glass ceiling at about 2.95 with my L2 agent. Things were going up quickly (0.05 per mission or so) and then I just sat at 2.95 for like 10 missions before hitting 3.0. It's still moving s.l.o.w.l.y. for some reason. Is this normal? I have Social 4/connections 2.
I think you have to keep switching agents, as you get less rep for each mission if you stick with the same one.
My problem is I'm missioning in Caldari space, but one of my 2 characters is Minmatar, so I've got that making my rep gains slower too. I'm flying a T2 fit drake, but I'm a long way from being able to do level 3 missions.
Looks like EVE has it's share of tedious grinding too :(

So rep gain decreases as you get better rep with an entity. You can see the individual chnages on your character sheet - go to the 'Standings' item and then click on the 'Transactions' tab (IIRC) that will show you each gain or loss.
However as far as I know there's no reduction in rep gained for doing lots of missions with the same agent in a row. However it's quite possible to get a bunch of missions in a row that have low rep gains as each mission has different rewards. However AFAIK the rewards scale consistently so a mission with an ISK reward higher than another should also have a better rep gain than the other. Might be better to say that each mission has a multilpier to the standard reward for a mission.

Standings
Standings are a measure of how much one entity likes or dislikes another entity and are measured on a real number scale from -10 to +10. -10 is complete and total loathing and +10 is complete and total adoration. The standings of NPC entities towards a player are very important because completing missions increases standings, and higher standings makes more profitable missions available. When standings go up or down they usually do so as a percentage; this is always a percentage decay towards the extreme end of the scale. For example, if someone has 1.0 standing with an NPC corporation and completes a mission that changes standing by +5%, then the current standing is increased by 5% of the difference from +1 to +10; that's a change of +0.45 with an end result of +1.45. However, if someone else with a 4.0 standing completes the same mission under the same circumstances and also gets a 5% increase, then that's 5% of the difference from +4 to +10; that's a change of +0.30 with an end result of +4.30.
If something causes a standings decrease, then it's a percentage decay towards -10. For example, if someone with +1.0 standings suffers a -5% change, then that's 5% of the difference from +1 to -10; that's a change of -0.55 with an end result of +0.45. If someone with +4.0 standings suffers that same -5% change, then it's 5% of the difference from +4 to -10; that's a change of -0.7 with an end result of +3.3.
What that means is that the higher the standings you get, the harder it is to increase it and the easier it is to decrease it.
It is worth noting that running out of time on a mission you have accepted (usually a week, but the Wee Bug Problem courier mission has a failure timer of 12 hours) will cause a standings loss with the agent, corporation, and faction. Declining a mission for a particular agent more than once every four hours will also cause a standings loss with the agent, corporation, and faction. If an agent you recently declined a mission from offers you another undesirable mission, you can click DELAY, wait out the four hour timer while you go do something else, and then click DECLINE.
To see a history of how your standings have changed, you can go to NeoCom > Character Sheet > Standings, scroll through the list of NPC entities, right-click an entry and select SHOW TRANSACTIONS to see how much your standings went up or down for what actions and by how much. All the percentage changes you see in the Transaction Log are as described above, with the exception that (due to a possible bug) any percentage changes due to "Derived Modification" are percentage changes of 10.0, not percentage decays towards an extreme. (The experimental basis for this statement is here.)
You've hit the point where you stop really getting rep for L2 missions. You need to move on to L3 to really see any good rep gains. The basic rule of thumb is once a higher level agent will talk to you, it's time to talk to them and do missions for them. You should be doing L4 at rep of 5 to 6ish. I don't know about L5 since the highest I've done is L4 with a rep of 8.07 after skills.Quote:

See, that's what I can't confirm: that agents soft-cap how much rep you gain from them. I can see up to L2 Q15 right now, which I just moved to last night, so we'll see how that goes for a bit. If it goes like the transition from L1 to L2, I'll see the L3 guys become available about the same time as L2 Q18-20 guys.Quote:

It's possible that the level of the mission effects the standing gain - you'd have to calculate each of the gains from your transactions to see if they were what they should have been in order to find out, but if the mission level affects the standing I'm sure someone else would have noticed by now?Quote:

Apparently I need to look for "internal security" agents for the most fun, thanks to some website called "eve dotmaps" or something, I located a good agent near me. But I can't remember if I started social skills, that would be cool if they had a web interface for you characters that allowed you to modify their training queues while at work or on vacation. I know evemon monitors, but I don't think you can change right?
