Need abit of help with 2x chars

Hey there! I'm now back to try some multiboxing, mostly to lvl up quickly on a newly rolled realm. However i can't make up my mind of what 2s team shall consist on. Currently doing Monk + hunter and i've a hard time timing all hunters attacks with my monks, so hunter is barely doing anything except autoshots (when i'm empty on focus, steady shots) My main goal is just to solo some old content and using 2 man makes it abit easier than on my Spirest alone.

I'm thinking of going 2x dk's as they seem to be viable to controll in a pvp enviroment aswell and strong tanks. Since i actually do like pvp, my minds also crossed double mage for BG's i'd imagine that invis = gets opener first with 2x PoM pyro or shatter would almost be to OP aswell with mirror image.

Whats your opinions? 2x dk (or 1x + healer?) good for solo content. 2x mages not so good at soloing i'd imagine, but "looks" good in pvp i'f im not mistaken. Or is there any easier / better config for a newcomer?

i'm using Hkn currently and i've noticed passthrough mouse clicks isnt working that good, which is what cripples my hunter the most. So all in all, Some old pve dung / raids + PvP (Bg's mostly since i doubt 2s will be doable as a multiboxer due all CC's) And if i'm going to try arena it would be 3v3 with my rogue friend.

I'm currently leveling a 5 man mixed team with a hunter in it and I find the only annoying thing is utilizing the traps, If I lay them without trap launcher I have to have the tank walk the mobs through them, if you use repeater it slows things down a decent a mount while leveling.

As for the rest of their abilities I use ISBoxer and have never used HKN so I'm not sure if you're able to do this but I simply do

for single target:

When I press 2 send to my hunter

2 - Serpent Sting macro (/castsequence reset=target Serpent Sting, Null)
3 - Explosive Shot
4 - Kill Shot
5 - Black Arrow
6 - Arcane Shot
7 - Steady Shot (will be changed to Cobra shot at 81)


This will basically cast serpent sting once per target, cast explosive shot and black arrow on cooldown, cast kill shot when the target is below 20% health. If everything is on CD it will cast Arcane shot to eat focus and if there is no focus it will cast Steady shot to build focus.

I'm sure there's ways to optimize this more but while leveling it does ok.

As for the traps the way I'm managing them for single target is as I approach a mob I will press my spread key to stop my 2 mages and shaman but the hunter will stay on follow. I'll get the hunter to drop his trap (without launcher) where I'll be tanking the mob, then when the fight starts I'll have him cast step back and deterrence to get away from any cleave.

Multiboxing hasn't been about matching up abilities in a long, long time. You create a macro sequence on each toon and spam them together.

For example, here's a thread about my macros and how to set up priority casting in HotKeyNet.

The MoP Macro Library thread also has more information about the Priority Method and the Multi-step Method.

Why wouldn't mages be good for solo content? I'd always prefer DPS classes over trying to use a tank or healer for doing stuff out in the world since they kill things faster than trying to DPS as a tank/healer.

I've been using HotKetNet since Wrath came out because the mouse broadcasting is phenomenal. The current article on the main page is a blog post about how I fish on my entire team, and if mouse broadcasting wasn't exceptionally accurate, I couldn't pull that off.

If your broadcasting isn't accurate make sure your screens are both in the same resolution - they don't physically need to be the same size if the resolutions match.

You may also need to go into the settings and adjust the Clickmouse Delays {Options > Settings > ClickMouse}. I am currently using a delay setting of 3 and 3, but those settings will vary based on your system. On lesser systems, I've used 15 15 and 25 25 and various settings in between. I mention a little about mouse settings here.

Thanks both iof you! Yeah im going into the cast sequence but i wasn't sure they would work on low lvls due i dont got the skills. I've been reading all your guides

could it be that i'm using PiP? because when i do send mouse strokes my mouse instantly pass over to my little pip window wich is quite annoying and it ends up shooting my trap elsewhere i clicked.

As for soloing i mean't old raids and such, mages don't got such great slefhealing or have they? My first team was mages in cata but grew bored of them due all their spells and i had no idea how to config hkn which i do now I guess 2x could be viable in arena, due i'll get the opener and double sheep / RoF mages etc, only problem i know i could face is targeting issue if one of my chars get CC'd Also im only gonna do arena for caps, and maybe 3s for fun with my rogue friend, when i've learned to multibox them properly.

Well i'm going to try setup some cast sequences and see how well it goes, i might keep going with monk hunter atleast to 80

PiP doesn't matter. The point of mouse passing is that it does go to the other windows as defined in the key. If you're leading with the hunter, then there's no reason to pass mouseclicks. If you're leading from the monk, then the mouse position is always going to be relative between the characters. Clicking at the monk's feet isn't going to cast the trap at the monk's feet because the relative position {assuming the view and facing are the same on both characters} for the hunter is placing it at the hunter's feet.

I can't speak to dual mages, but you can look up "Team Beeq" here. He was running 5 mages and farming raid-trash for current-tier raids in Cata. It's more about being able to burst things down before they can do much damage. Of course this isn't Cata anymore and 5>2 so it's not perfect information, but depending on what you do, gear will take negate a lot at this point. I mean, there's not much that people can't solo these days, so dual-boxing should still allow quite a bit of old content farming.

No i'm posting from my computer, i've turned of No-script addon it might be that that interfere with the post window.

I'm thinking like this 1 dk can solo alot, 2 dks should be able to solo even more.
But i like the idea of mages starting to think about that i like all the CC i will get etc.

If i turn the question witch comp would be best at node defending in random bg's or if i wanna blow up ppl (i know it's hard with 2, i will add 3rd later when i feel that i can afford it)
So stealther sounds good for that

Anyways i think i'll just go make several teams since i'm rafing, i hate decisions i always make a decision as it would be my final one.
But i'd realy like a setup that i feel that i can use for everything. farming old raids do some pvp etc without having to be disapointed when i've reached 90.
Also all setting up is holding me away from trying new teams

Hi Miken, it's not a macro, I've actually put each of those abilties on my action bar and bound them to their respective numbers on the left (i.e. 7 is bound to Steady Shot)

With the software I'm using I'm able to have it so whenever I press 2 the software sends 234567 to my hunters window, because of the gcd only 1 of the actions is actually processed by the game every time I press 2. So you have to order your abilities in a priority so that your hunter will always use the most important ability first.

In the case above my hunter will always use Arcane shot once per target, and then after that she will use the abilities in the order I have shown. If you go through Khatavors guide you'll see how to do it in HKN
