Default Follower distance for mele groups

    Hi all,
Does anyone by chance have a solution for boxing a mele group? I'm currently having to run through mobs so the followers are in range and then begin DPSing. This causes the main to die sometimes when fighting champs/elites. Was just curious if there was something I wasn't aware of.

    Thanks.

Been there, read all those, I don't see follow addressed for mele... using isBoxer

I would suggest something is wrong with your setup then. Currently, I can have one toon log in at the base camp on tatooine and the others log in about the middle of the map, and press my follow keybind... and the dude from half a map away will begin running towards my team. Every group I run, the team is right there with me. Melee and Ranged. I have also watched my giuidmates operate multiple accounts with no issue. Perhaps a revisit of your setup? Can you post your setup or elaborate a bit more as to specifically what you are pressing, doing, and what is going on?

I'm using Mosg's ISBoxer setup. [mob][main] [followers] 10yds behind so i have to do [main] [mob] [followers] so everyone is in range. Do you have your follower cameras zoomed out? I wonder if that has any affect on how far behind they follow?

you shouldnt have to do that with ISBoxer. I mean it works yes. But your characters should be in melee range, even if your lead toon is first in line. You may want to tap your follow key as soon as you get in range, or... as some people have done specifically for melee teams, work the follow command into your non-channeling dps keys.

I am having a similar issue using a modified Mosg setup. I have follow in my attack keymaps. My main attack key looks something like this:

    Step 1
mapped key Assistme > current window
    keystroke 9 > all
    keystroke 6 > all
    keystroke 4 > all
mapped key Follow > current window

    Step 2
mapped key Assistme > current window
    keystroke 2 > all
mapped key Follow > current window

Most of the time, I will see my 2nd toon standing there out of range. If I hit my separate follow key, he will move to me. The mapped key Follow was at the beginning of the sequence with the same results, so I moved it to the end to see if it would make any difference which it did not. I confirmed that the follow portion of the above sequence works. While out of combat I broke follow, moved my main away from the 2nd toon and hit the attack sequence key. The 2nd toon will immediately move to me. So, it seems like it is related to the attacks or combat.

I have also played around with the next action queue time that you can adjust in the in game preferences. I had this set to .5 a second for when I was single boxing. I thought perhaps this was queuing up an attack that was interfering with the follow. I have the queue time set to 0 now with no noticeable difference.

FYI - I am 2 boxing 2 sentinels. Both windows are running fine at a steady capped 30FPS, so I do not believe this is related to any kind of lag.

I found that if I hit force leap->all, only 2-3 jump if the target is killed then #4 runs up slowly. So I usually jump in, change target, hit jump again (to get the lazy one) then continue dps.

My DPS keys that use assist/follow all work fine. The character won't RUN to the target, but I don't have a problem with them lagging that far behind. You sort of have to lead your followers onto the target a bit.

In anycase all my DPS keys are two step keys that activate when pressed or released.

    Step 1 is assist
Step 2 is DPS abilities with follow last.

They will swing and then follow. Works very well. One thing that you may want to consider as a melee boxer especially if you run sentinels or marauders, run Predation or Transcendence. The movement speed buff makes a WORLD of difference in increasing on target uptime. So much so that I have pretty much dropped zen from my sentinels in PvP, and will drop it from my marauders now that I have predation for them.

In my experience so far, I found that I have to run slightly past the mob I'm attacking in order to get the follower into melee range. It seems to matter how far I have to run to get to the mob, though. The longer run, it seems like the farther back the follower is, even with sprint on both of them. I wonder if lag on the follower is making him a touch slower? I notice in long conversations, the non-active screen lags behind slightly by the end.

Thing is, for me at least, that's the way every game I've ever 2-boxed has been, so I'm used to just running to the other side of the mob I want to attack and then turning to attack it.
