Default Need help on my mixed composition. New to Cata

Tank: Druid - My only option because I want to be able to shift to 5 long range DPS

So I need 3 DPS and a Healer from the following:
    Shaman
    Mage
    Warlock
    Hunter
    Priest

    - No duplicate class
    - A composition that will have the most buffs
    - Has the most DPS output
    - Has the best heal multiboxing wise
    - Easy and fun to play like my good old Paladin + 4 Shamans
    - What talent tree also should I pick for each class

    Thanks for your help

    Personally...

I'd go Arcane Mage, Destruction Warlock, Elemental Shaman and Holy Priest.
    With whatever your tank is.

And probably dual-spec both the Shaman and Priest, so you can mix and match.
Some fights the Earth Shield and Mana Tide might be worth more.
But in general, a Priest is an excellent healer for a team.
And Elemental adds a lot to predominantly caster groups.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

I don't think you will go wrong with this group. You can find all of the two step Macro's in Merc's Marco post. I don't know a damn thing about my mage or warlock and they are already doing pretty good DPS with those macros.

I have 8 accounts up which has allowed me to test the different groups a little bit: This is what I have available: Prot/Ret Pally, Elemental/Resto Shaman X 3, Arc/Fire Mage, Destro Warlock, Survival/Beast Hunter, Moonkin/Bear Tank, Holy/Shadow Priest and a Mutilate Rogue.

I think my favorite group right now is the Prot Pally, Arc Mage, Destro Warlock, Ele Shaman and Holy Priest. It's an easy group to run with great buffs and good 5 man heals (Also Portal and Food). The moonkin takes a little bit more attention than I like for a mixed comp team; but I do understand your plan to have 5 casters and that should work well for non-heroic content, such as dailies and leveling. The Surv Hunter is actually pretty good and does provide the hunter party buff as well a great CC ability, but I prefer the above group for 5 man content.

Something else you may consider is the different groups for tokens. For examply I like to run two or three in the LFR. I run them in the same token group and I've been picking up atleast one or two tokens a week. I'll run two of my Shaman's with my Hunter, here I can need on both the Tokens as well as most of the Agility or Int gear helping me gear my the team to 385 rather fast.

Ive been running the new heroics since release with a pali and 4 shaman and have been a strong group but now i would like to have back a mixed group and hopefully able to work when MOP arrives

I started with pali, resto sham, mage, moonkin, lock
First the arcane mage came out tops even undergeared, now pulls 20-25k
the destro lock has slapped together gear to make ilevel for new heroics and is pulling 10kh
The moonkin which i really wanted in the group however is only pulling 6k or less with almost full heroics gear now, just cant get it to pull any good dps

Ive recently transfered my priest mixing between holy and disc, now that its fully geared its proving to be a great healer and if you run disc u get great healing and dps
Currently leveling up a hunter to try out in the mixed group

So going to try out, druid tank, disc priest, arcane mage, Hunter, Destro lock and see how that goes

Thank you guys for the suggestions. Now I know what to concentrate on. The only problem I see is 3 classes will battle out for the cloth drops

I'd use a second mage rather than a warlock (warlock was my first character, I loved them, but this just isn't our expansion!) and keep the priest atonement disc until at least level 70.

My thread is very similar and I also find the warlock very underwhelming. Seriously considering doing precisely the above and replace the warlock with a Mage, or maybe a Druid.

Curse of the Elements, is 8% additional spell damage from all of your other casters.

You can get the same buff from a Boomkin, but then you need to manage the Eclipse procs.
There's a two-step macro that works for that, but it requires you to not take Sunfire talent, which means no Lunar Showers either.
Or you can manually manage the Eclipse thing, but that's one extra thing to concentrate on...

Or you could get the buff from an Unholy DK, but that means mixing melee and casters on the team.

I don't think the difference between another Mage and a Warlock is enough to lose 8% spell power on your Shaman, Mage, Warlock and Priest (when DPSing, including Smite/Heals).
Not to mention, the Warlock buffs (pet buff, healthstone, soultstone, summoning) are lost while the Mage adds zero buffs to a team that already has a Mage.

You get an extra Polymorph, which is a strong CC power.
But you lose Banish (Demons/Elementals), which is flexibility.

Even if a Mage is stronger DPS this expansion...
That was not always the case previous, and doesn't mean it will be the case in the future.

If you want a mage, go with it.

I'm just wondering why Hunter wasn't recommended?
