Default 240GT vs GTX 550 Ti

    5 Boxing..
    All windowed on same monitor..
    SSD
    750W PSW
    i3
    12GB DDR3

Sporting a 240GT.. Im looking at a GTX 550 Ti

I dont like not being able to be in a major city from time to time
    Pull the trigger?

City lag is due to your CPU peaking out rather than your GPU so no, changing your video card won't change a thing.

hmmm, shouldnt an i3 be able to handle that?

i3 for 5 boxing in cata is on the side of low end.

Edit: just open up your performance monitor and check core loads.

It annoys me when even one team member flys to org to learn new spells, and all 5 window clients freeze up. Dont even have them on anything but low.. I just figured it was the video card.

The frustration of logging out the other 4, just so the one can learn spells, just about had me spend $230 today for a new card.

The new capital cities are as detailed as Dalaran is and they are far larger as well, that puts a lot of load on your CPU, the graphics features, as far as i know, were not updated or made more demanding for dx9 with cata.

Kekkerer is correct. While there would be a performance gain from getting a new GPU, there is more to be gained by upgrading your CPU.

Was financial reasons the reason for...cheaping out on your multiboxing rig?

Go big/absurd or go home! (For absurd I'd throw in as many of those 240GT cards in your motherboard as you can, assign different slaves to them and then get some cheap monitors and give each slave a monitor)

    Been a work in progress.

So should I drop the i3 for a new i7? Or are we suggesting I get another 240GT and use the spare monitor?

i3 to i7 will be a better all around upgrade for performance. You can get a new GPU later.

So the 550 for $155 is a waste? I bought the 240 when they came out. Just felt like it was time for upgrade

I'll get the i7 tomorrow then.
