Seriously, here's my basic set up:

    Left Hand
    - Movement (WASD, QE for strafe, these six only control my main)
    - Tank threat spam and DPS spam ("2" key)
    - Tank threat only spam ("3" key, slaves do nothing)
    - Consecration ("4", I find I need that spell on a stand alone key and use it quite often, slaves do nothing)
    - PBAE ("6" key, my three DPS do whatever PBAE they have)
    - Divine Protection (the pally damage reduction thingie, "8")
    - All-in-One ("-")
    - Jamba follow master ("=")
    - Miscellaneous (burst DPS is "alt-7": bloodlust, mirror image, dps trinkets, etc., Targeted AE ("alt-9") sets up a click to have DPS cast ae targeted spells with ISBoxer, etc.)

    Right Hand
    - Select targets
    - Click healing with Healbot via window repeater region from my pally (main) to the priest

This set up works just fine. I can handle most PvE content that I'm geared for other than stuff I'm simply too lazy to master (HoS Brahn event, Occulus, Old Kingdom). However, what I'm noticing is when I'm movement challenged my left hand is busy working the WASD keys and my DPS stops (i.e., I can't keep spamming "2" while moving very well. ). I simply will never get used to the idea of mouse driving and even if I could that would compromise my click healing.

    What do you do?

P.S. On a side note, I'm wistful about the days of hardware 3 boxing in EQ1 where I had a set up that read the log file and would simply spam DPS until the mob died leaving me free to do other things. Yes yes, automation but those were the old days.
I use the whole keyboard this is because i cannot use asd method like most normal people would, im arrow and numpad man

i dont have any tank macros, 0

all i got is dps macros and healing. tank normally with main window but remove any keybinds from tank so spamming a macro will have no affect but will on the clones as they are set to receive.

this means i can tank normally/ switch tanks with only jamba to change master. so your left with click macros that consist of few spammable buttons.

this would make things less complicated and free up space for hitting other macros.

i have a total of 43+ macros that i use but in normal fights i only use 1-2 that consists of dps and resto tied into each other.

    everyones setup is different!

but try the no tank macro setup, multitasking!!! who said men cant!

    EDIT:

putting this into what hand does what for me:

tanking = mouse normal no macros

dps = right hand using numpad

healing right hand using numpad + end

movement/tactical advantages = left hand using various keys covering the qwerty area

Follow/boss movement - Mouse buttons and macros. using razor mamba

Really? These fights (aside from HoR) are pretty easy. I'm using VuhDo / Repeater regions. I just strafe with my left hand and click heals with my right, then move back to the n52 to keep DPSing.

You might want to try a Logitech G13 gamepad. I mapped strafe and forward/backward to the joystick leaving all the buttons for dps keys.

I've got "strafe alts" keys setup for these fights - I just reach over and slide everyone left/right as needed and continue DPS/Heals. most of the fights where you need to strafe you don't need to spread out as much so I tend to leave them all right on top of each other, otherwise i just move them in formation.

Actually with the G13 I used the joystick for moving my tank and with an alt modifier I can use my other toons. Another option using the G13 due to being able to move the tank with the joystick is that you can have dedicated strafe keys on the second row which also allows very fast access to move toons.

Use speech recognition for bloodlust. But only if you make the sound.

Zan covered it. Traditional instances don't require you move all five toons much. The new ones to. Its not so much as I can't do things, I was just curious if folks were using their controls in a more efficient manner.

I have strafe-alts set to my left/right arrow keys. I use IWT a lot.

Looks like there isn't a big efficiency secret I've been missing. Still, fun thread to read.
