I've been For all intents and purposes Bald since I was 16. (What little hair I had was removed in the corp). But I don't envy you going through all that work for nice silky hair.

Anyways, all kidding aside, Hair growth would be the least of my worries for you. Anytime Surgery comes around for any reason, It can be dangerous. Just the anesthesia alone is risky. I am sure though down the road the doctors will get into all of that with you.

I do ve a question though, Did you have to take the Minnesota Multiphase Psych test, or anything like that? I know it's an ignorant question, but I could have sworn at one time people who wanted the change, had to do this, in order to show a medical/Psychological need for doing so.

Still your a braver man then me. For example, my first year out here at the Ranch, I got bit twice by a copprhead. My dislike of hospitals led me to stay Bed ridden for about two weeks, and then the rest of summer with a shotgun removing those dang snakes out here with a 12 guage.

Once again, wishing you the best man.

My hats off to you. Coming out to everyone is probably one of the worst fears that you can face IMO. Especially if you come from a family with old fashion values. Hopefully in time your family will develop an understandng and realize that its still you.
I wish you the best in your journey to find your true self.

Can't stop you, can't change your mind, can't do anything but show support for you. I understand on a small scale of what you're goin thru and wish you all the luck in the world you end up happier. I even thought from time to time at what it would like if I went thru with a sex change. I'm disturbed, I know. But I wouldn't mind being a hot attractive chick. Already got the skinny body to pull it off. Just got a few other physical aspects that are questionable to change. And thank you for pointing out that you are NOT gay. Nothing against that, it's just that people do tend to get that impression with those that get sex changes. I'm a guy, and even if I went thru something like this, I wouldn't touch another guy with a ten foot pole. I used to joke around with friends about this topic too, told them I always felt like a horny lesbian trapped in a man's body. Not sure how far the science has come on this, and sorry if I hit a sore spot here, but is it now possible for them to give you the ability to give birth also? I personally wouldn't do this unless I got the whole package. Aside from a strict Christian family, that too would make it harder for me. I can't even openly date chicks that are Bi without making certain family members disgusted at me. I'm a very open minded person, so I do support your decision on this. And F9thRet, I'm happy you didn't turn your back on your son like most would. No way I could live with myself if I disowned or turned my back on my kids if they were.

Thanks Lans83, But it's a no brainer to me. You always love your kids. Well unless there name is Hitler or something.

It's funny, as I am very conservative on most things. But when it comes to things like this, I always tell people It's not my business, let alone the governments.

However, when someone opens up with a problem like this, I feel it's my duty to offer them support.

Thank you for sharing with the community. I have a friend/former coworker that has a very similar, actually - practically an identical situation to what you've described to us. Although I found it complex and confusing, we would talk about it in an effort to help me to better understand his plight. As a friend, I wanted to show acceptance and be supportive of his choice to pursue what he feels is right for him. Probably the most confusing part for me to understand was that he claimed that he wasn't gay. I thought for a while that maybe he was keeping that aspect of it in the closet to avoid adding anymore awkwardness or to preserve the friendship that we had prior to and after his decision to begin taking estrogen. Your openness has reassured me that my friend is being completely genuine about what he's told me. Thank you, and I'm happy to hear that you're finding yourself.

    Default UPDATE: Diagnosed finally

So yesterday I went to a Penn Gender Identity Therapist/Doctor who diagnosed me with Gender Identity Disorder. She feverishly stressed it isn't a disorder but is how it is classified. She told me I am on the right track and am handling things very well.

So I am officially transgendered. This is liberating for me and makes me feel I finally have the answers I have been looking for.

Oh, and she said I am not crazy.

    Cheers!
