Hi,
has anyone found out the most reliable and well-performing way of configuring core affinities when 5-boxing on a 4 core CPU?
The way I see it there are several possible solutions. What works best?

when I run my five on one box I use the following:
Core 0 not used
Core 1 Main Wow
Core 2 Wow 2&3
Core 3 Wow 4&5
reason being that if the system needs to do anything it has core 0 available, Core 1 is for my main instance and the other four run on the two remaining cores.
It has worked well so far without problems (Vista Ultimate 64 8GB RAM)
I concur with the last poster, I run mine the same way when I run 5.

Core 0 - instance 1
Core 1 - instance 2
Core 2 - instance 3
Core 3 - instance 4 and 5
I don't use this box for anything other than playing WoW, so there isn't anything interfering with using core 0.

I set Affinity to 15 on all instances which means let Wow handle it. Monitoring the cpu usage it seems to even it out across all 4 cores very well.
I am a total moron (or let's assume that). I don't know anything about affinity, but I am interested to know how to set what runs where. I can currently run 5 WoW on my first two cores only, but I would like to bump that down. Is there a post or a something someone can link about this?
I actually did a little homework and found this http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/14...-affinity.html This answers my question and should answer anyone else with the same type of inquiry.
Same here. Also have IE and Windows Media Player running in the background.Originally Posted by 'Sarduci',index.php?page=Thread&postID=75161#post7 5161

QFE, I do nearly the same (with 3 accounts) The theory about core 0 is solid, too.Originally Posted by 'mikekim',index.php?page=Thread&postID=75128#post7 5128
