Default Mod:shift I'm calling you out!

After looking through hundreds of macros posted on this site I have really started to wonder why so many use mod: in their macros. I use trinity bars and have 1 block of bars 4x12 buttons. the bottom row is bound to 1 to = second row is shift+ 1 to = next is ctrl and final top row is alt. So each bar allows me to swap spells and such without needing to rewrite the macro x5. This could even be done in the default Blizzard UI without much hassle. So anyone want to step up and defend Mod:shift and change my mind?

I actually have a need for the [mod:] commands. As of late i have been switching to a swappable assist macro system which utilizes the paging system.

ie. page 1 is all macros assist main 1, page 2 assist main 2.... and so on

This lets me Pip swap my characters and have the ablity to focus nuke. So a typical macro in Trinity looks like

    #Showtooltip Lightning Bolt
    /target [target=Character]
/cast [nomod][target=targettarget, harm, exists, nodead] Lightning Bolt
    /cast [mod:alt/ctrl] Elemental Mastery
    /cast [mod:alt/ctrl] Nature’s Swiftness
    /use [mod:alt/ctrl] 13
    /use [mod:alt/ctrl] 14
/cast [mod:alt][target=targettarget, harm, exists, nodead] Lightning Bolt
/cast [mod:shift][target=focus, harm, exists, nodead] Lightning Bolt
/cast [mod:ctrl][target=focus, harm, exists, nodead] Lightning Bolt

(Thanks Trinity for letting me go past 255 characters)

This is put on all 5 pages in the same slot, where "character" changes names between bars. Trinity wont let me have modifiers built into paging the the extent I want, so [mod:] in macro's is necessary.

I use trinity and every single button is a macro - I like it that way

I would rather manage 1/4 of the key bindings and copy, paste and modify 1 macro 5 times than 4 macros 5 times

    I also use overloaded modifiers so I have [mod:shift,mod:ctrl], [mod:shift,mod:alt], [mod:ctrl,mod:alt] and [mod:shift,mod:ctrl,mod:alt]

so it would in fact be 8 bars with 8 keybindings and 8 copy / paste / modify for each of my one buttons

Also... I have trinity replicate my Xkeys layout

so I have one bar for the top 2 rows, and one bar for each of the 3 vertical clusters

If I was to do bar paging then I would have empty buttons in some of the slots where there is no action for a specific modifier (and paging only works on single modifiers, losing 4 possible effects from single keypress

    I win

I use mod:shift because it allows me to use the default UI to do what I need. Trinity Bars may become unsupported, break, etc... Pretty sure Blizzard won't break their own UI. It's one less addon I have to deal with.

My "E" key is "move forward" and my "Oh no, you did NOT shoot that green shit at me" (i.e.: earth shock x5) is SHIFT+E. Works for me. /shrug

I use a swappable assist macro system also however without pages. I use focus for the chracter on the main screen with a macro assigned that changes focus on each character to the new main that button is also the same as the one that changes the pip window. Thus less configuration or macro writing or using pages and yet same result

So use default blizzard UI and go to interface options and add a second bar. Have that bar set to shift+1 thru Shift + = and your set with no macros needed.
