Moderators have to enforce the policy. As long as they don't, the forum is going to get bloated with useless topics and vague questions.
There's a lot more going wrong, but I have the feeling that it's all 'talking to a big wall' because things are not likely to be changed.

Maybe it's a good idea to open a new topic to continue this discussion, because we're taking this one offtopic. These post can be moved to that topic.

    True... true...

Maybe I should just give up my (un)holy crusade about keeping a nice and clean forum. I'm not talking about censorship - just organization.
I already gave up, hence the signature edit ;P
I'll still stay to help a bit over here of course :)

Whle I applaud your efforts at creating a new multiboxing resource.... is building a better mousetrap really needed?
    [offtopic]
It's going to be different in many ways. I'm not planning a forum nor a wiki. It's going to contain a step-by-step guide and easy to understand content. It's also going to focus on WoW, not general multiboxing. Information-wise it will be "less but more" (less in quantity, but more valuable).
[edit] I don't want to make a separate community and I'll probably just link to this forum in my community-related articles. I just want good and clean content, something that is almost impossible to accomplish here.

    The problem is just laziness.

    This is what happens.

    1. "Oh WOW !!! I wanna multibox!!!"
    2. Do a search and find dual-boxing.com
    3. Create forum Account
    4. Post a new thread
    5. "OMG WOW !!! I wanna multibox!!! HELP !!!"

This is what would be better.

    1. "Oh WOW !!! I wanna multibox"
    2. Do a search and find dual-boxing.com
    3. Read stickies that are plastered all over. Like Beginners Guide 2 Dual-Boxing (3,4,5 boxing) , Your FAQ Guide Updated, Simple Dual Boxing FAQ / Wiki , How to Box 5 accounts (or 2 or 3 or 4) with ONE computer
    4. Read the wiki including the one that's called "Getting Started" http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...etting_started
    5. Get an idea on what's going on and how it works.
    6. Figure out how many accounts you want to play. Don't ask, "should I play 3 toons or 4 toons?" This is purely on what you want and can afford.
    7. Get a couple of trial accounts ( do a search for "trial")
    8. See if your currently computers can handle it and how many it can handle
    9. Buy more computers if needed or upgrade
    10. Buy either a hardware or software setup http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Rigs http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Software
    11. Start trying it by logging on
    12. Create forum account
    13. if you are stuck, do a search... you're not the first person to have problems or run into something
    14. if you still can't find it, create a post with a specific question.

Suggestion: Change the Wiki text to something like "Guide" or "Getting Started" or "RTFM".

I just found this site a week or two ago and I rarely go to the wiki. I found the information in the forums much more helpful. It also seems that a lot of the information in the wiki is copy/paste from forum posts. Although I do think the wiki is a great idea; just needs some better promotion and/or organization.

Having said that, this community (and this site) is the most informative, interesting and most helpful wow-based community I have ever read. I can't stress how much info I have leanred just poking around in varios threads. I even learned something new reading this "oh god, not another one of THESE threads".

If people use the report button for each post that shouldn't be where it is, we the mods can clean it up a lot quicker.

Maybe have an on-line quiz requirement before the forum accounts can be used to create new posts....?

    1.) Create account
    2.) Study wiki/stickies/relevant posts
3.) Take www.dual-boxing.com quiz to activate account
4.) If pass, allow posting. If fail, require re-quizzing.

Sample questions include: "Create a macro to cast the spell Fireball at the current target of your character's focus", "List three ways one can send the same keypress to multiple clients", "State why it is important to be the real account owner of all multi-boxed accounts", etc...
    Cranky old-timer.

The wiki text is fine. Within the wiki, there's a section called "Getting Started".

There's also a search box on the top right corner of the forum that says "Enter Search Word" that doesn't get used.

sometimes the search function doesn't get me what i want to get to, i often have to play around with the keywords i use. Would be nice also if we could select which forum we are searching (rather than searching every forum what if i just want to search macros). If this is possible please let me know =D
