When to start looting?

My shamans are 67, and soon to be 70. I've already started leveling a new team. I can spend an hour or two on my shamans, and make more gold than what my new team could make leveling 1-50. I want to level as quickly as possible, and looting everything is just too much hassle. That said, When do you think I should start looting what I kill?

When you start fighting lvl67 + mobs, then they start dropping decent blues and epics.

This is not so much a "when" but more af a "how"....
What has really worked for me is to keep the loot on group loot when i dont need any quest drops.
Then i just loot what glimmers (SHINY!)
That way i get all the green stuff, and not to forget world drop epix.
The green stuff = disenchant for big $$.
Last night i boosted some friends in SM, i get all greens... 4runs of cath gave 160g worth of mats on AH.
Not the best way to make gold, but if youre still going there, why not pick up the extra cash

Edit : ALWAYS loot mobs that can drop rare BoE blues... An example is the Champions in cath, they drop the rarest piece of the scarlet set.

I thought about doing group loot, but all the roll windows for every piece get really annoying. Is there a way to auto-pass / greed?

Since 2.4 you can right click the players unitframe and check "pass on loot".

You can still loot quest items and badges and such with your alts, but they will auto pass on all other loot, also gold and white loto will all be lootable by your main.

I love this function.

Sure its nice, especially on pick up quests, but in instances it doesnt sort out the greens for you, you would still have to loot all corpses to get it.
And if all alts are on "pass loot" then youre back at square 1 with free for all

Setting master looter is nice if all you want to do is pick up greens/blues. You can hover over the piles of sparkly bodies and be alerted to when there's a green/blue present.

The answer to your question in terms of gold income from your new team vs. gold income from your established 70s is probably around 50-60. I personally started looting everything in earnest only once my guys hit Outlands at L58. I powerleveled them in SM:Cath from 20-40, and DID have one of my team disenchant everything for a pretty nice profit on the AH.
