Default Best way to set up accounts to try FF14?

If i wanted to trial 4x multiboxing FF14 to 60 (i think it's 60 free now) how should i go about setting up accounts? I accessed my old 2013 account and it wont let me try the free trial.

Should i start 4 new separate SquareEnix accounts (forget what they are called in FF)
Or should i start 1 new SquareEnix account and add more sub accounts on the same SquareEnix account? Does it work like Bnet?
Would there be a benefit to keeping my 2013 account and Subscribe on that account? If so how should i set up the other 3 accounts?

I'm not sure there's a best way, unless you have an authenticator and wish to re-use it across all of your accounts, and in that case you'd want to create multiple service accounts under the same e-mail. Just know that you need to enter in a unique authenticator code for each account being logged in, so it extends the process of getting all of your characters into the game world.

Not currently, and even some of the items on the SE shop are only for characters, although whether its service account-wide or character-only is clearly noted on the item you're buying.

Perhaps, if you have a lot of previously subscribed days built up then you have access to the veteran rewards, which are pretty much just costumes, or if you have a legacy character from the 1.0 days giving you a special tattoo and a reduced subscription price, then otherwise, no, probably not.

Hey thanks, MiRai. I started watching Ellay on Multidayz while i played the trial up to level 20 and i decided i'm gonna switch over to FFXIV. I wanted to box TBC so badly that i'm not enjoying it solo at all. I'm gonna resub my IsBoxer and dive in.

Just be aware that beyond vanilla 50, dungeons are not boxer-friendly at all.

I think I'm right on the edge of that, hopefully optimistic to find a way to make it work but will see what happens.

So if the base game is free to play why is it $20 on steam?

(also caught ellays stream this weekend and missing boxing so badly)

I was planning to do one paid and 3/4 trial for now, will that be too restrictive?

No it's perfect for boxers until you want to take your team beyond level 60. The restrictions that matter are not being able to /invite, and the gold cap. Having 1 paid sub removes the /invite issue, and the gold cap isn't a problem until you start crafting and leveling beyond 60.

There's so much to do pre-60 that most people don't sub until they get most Jobs to 60.

And then for those that want to box less then 4 characters, you can ask anyone walking around to help you make a party by inviting all of your team and then they can drop group and your team will still be partied. So you can box 2-3 characters for free relatively easy since the community is so nice and helpful. It's totally worth the sub fee though, great game.

It's weird how they do it. Not even sure if you can do Free to play through Steam, but i think if you make your Free to play account first through the official website, you can select an option to make it a "Steam version account". Though I read a lot of complaints about Steam limiting how you upgrade and do any paid services though. Not sure myself, but it looked messy.

So the way to go right now if you want to play a paid account is to purchase
-Online Starter Edition (includes A Realm Reborn and Heavensward and 30 day sub) $19.99
-Preorder Endwalker (includes includes Stormblood and Shadowbringers) $39.99
and that covers the entire game.

It's important to know that if you make a fresh account then you can start playing the base game free forever below level 60, but if you buy the game or expansions or subscribe, you lose access to free to play forever on that account.

I just finished up Heavensward, which is the first expansion up to lvl 60, and was able to Box every single 4 player dungeon. The 8 player trials were a bit different though where you rely on others, but overall everything has definitely been doable - albeit difficult on some. The challenge is amazing.

So is this where people are ending up at? I miss boxing. If 5 was the magic number for WoW, is it 4 or 8 for FF14? Other than the account stuff I see above, anything I need to know before jumping in? Particular realm to go to (or to avoid)?

Between hardware boxing, software boxing and whatever else we came up with toward the end of the boxing days on WoW - what is the preferred method for boxing FF14?

    OT:
I picked up my old Diablo II for a month or so - surprised to see a small community still playing. (I think a month is about the gameplay that D2 is worth before you get in to trying to see how many times you can do the same thing over and over every 5 min for your entire gaming session). I don't really recommend trying to box D2. Its all botted to death anyway, and there's not much benefit of boxing even if you do get it working (no follow command, so its all keyboard sync and running into corners every min or two to stay grouped).
