Thread: Leveling toons

    Default Leveling toons

    I started my first foray into multiboxing this past weekend with a pair of warlocks and so far its been more fun than anything Ive done in this game since I leveled my first toon 3 years ago.

    But Ive run into an annoying problem.

    The two toons were in perfect sync XP wise up to about level 8. I got DCed and when I came back online one of the pair was in combat. Without thinking I quickly killed to mob and just like that they were out of sync. Ive tried to get them back together and although Ive gotten close (within 25 pts) I cant get them back together. Of course this wouldn't be a big deal unless I was just completely OCD except for the fact that the gap slowly widens. One dings and for a couple of mobs gets less XP, or one dings before a quest turn in and gets a different amount of XP for the quest. etcetera, etcetera...

    So what I want to know is this;
    Is this the normal state for leveling toons together? That they dont all ding in perfect unison or have I FUBARed the whole thing and now have to manage the gap so it doesn't get too wide.
    Is there a way to accurately predict the XP a mob will grant through an addon or something so I can do some selective killing to get them back together?

    Or am I just needlessly worrying about something that happens to everyone leveling multiple toons?

    Once you lose sync you're fucked pretty much lol; I had my draenei twins lvling in redridge...pulled a few more gnolls than I could handle, ended up losing one and the 2nd barely survived with a sliver of hp, so he got a bunch of exp the 2nd didn't; and my lowbie boomkins are like 10k+ exp apart, basically too much work to get 'em back together; you can attempt to ungroup them and try to even them up but honestly, it's not worth the effort. just keep them more or less close to each other :p

    If you get XP gaps and you care about it deeply, you can simply allow the laggard(s) to do collection quests that the others skip. This will even out the gaps. There are plenty of collection quests that you might have the stamina to do once as a team but not 1 per character.
    Cranky old-timer.

    Try parking 1 of them in a inn, and one outside. Rested exp can be great to even out the exp.

    For the second time since ive started my 5team have ended up with different amounts of rested exp, both BM calls resulted in the typical "we see no issue here and we cant tell you what we can and cant see regarding account use im sorry" aka TFB. So what I did was logged on each one individually that were way behind and did a quest solo to catch up. so now they are all within about 5k exp of each other (lvl 44). This is just how it is, for me it most often is caused by one or more chars dying in combat but Im then able to kill the mobs.

    sadly, its more or less part of multi-boxing. my mages are so far apart that i dont even bother getting them close to each other because in the end, they will all be 70's. plus, they're being powerleveled.
    Calling me a noob would be an understatement...

    Yeah, at 70 you will have no exp gap, so don't worry about it. They're all going to the same place anyway.

    easiest way to avoid widening that gap is parking the lagging one in the Inn as mentioned. Also, try to time quest turn ins so the quest exp is what levels you (if you are doing the quest thing); this will avoid that few kills with different xp modifiers.
