Conversely, if you're trying to make it difficult for peeveepeen punks to harass people on the ground that can't fight back, it might make sense. Of course, that assumes that the "ganker" types would tend to be people that would never waste their time doing Loremaster/etc. to get these achievements... Just a thought.

This would be fine, if incidents of PVP were an issue. But since we have designated PVP and PVE realms and hardly any reason outside World PVP to move from our instanced gold factories to begin with, I don't see the point. I wouldn't mind needing to unlock it if it was somehow relevant and made sense. A week long daily grind would be perfectly fine to me IF it actually related to how you would gain your flying mount/learn the flying skill. The only reason I can come up for this is that they're caving in to people's wishes to have flying back, and could not think of a reasonable way to reintroduce it. That and stretching what was initially only leveling content to extend to max level.

It really just seems to me like someone went: "Hey, Bill! You know how no one does the rest of the quests in an area when they outlevel it or cares about exploration achievements? Yeah, well, we just made them mandatory, lol."

BTW my macros say that the beginner zone in tanaan jungle is zoned [flyable]. only place in draenor where that happens.

They potentially disallow flying in Ashran and Tanaan Jungle, but it sounds like it's just gonna' happen.

I wonder if they screwed themselves over. it might be that when they created WOD the intent was to not allow flying so all zones were set up as one. Now that they are back pedaling theres no easy way to allow fly zones for just main content area and not the pvp zones? this is just a guess...

Hey this doesn't make a lot of sense for most pve'ers either. if you look at the mmo champ post those achievements are mostly wildly unpopular. Most pve people are instance people not "quest and explore" people (nothing wrong with questing and exploring, but it has been 6 months, if I was interested in doing that I would have).
