    Default How many accounts?

    Hello all,

First, thanks for sharing all the great info on this site. Multiboxing looks like an interesting challenge. HOWVEVER, I don't see myself spending the subscription fees to fill out a full group in WoW or LotRO (the games I'm most interested in). SWToR was fun, but not sure I'd want to go back to that. And RIFT just didn't do it for me...despite enjoying chloromancer and archon. While Wildstar is fun, it seems like the game places too much emphasis on avoiding hostile telegraphs or lining up healing telegraphs to work well for multiboxing.

Given the little bit of background, on to the question. Do you think a player can accomplish enough with two accounts in WoW or with a lifetime supported by multiple ftp accounts in LotRO to make multiboxing worth the setup? It seems like being able to run instances (my favorite part of MMOs anyway) is the goal here.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. I should mention that I have a Mac Pro/Bootcamp and an Alienware laptop, so I can run two accounts in LotRO. I certainly realize how much nicer it is using multiboxing software so you can use one keyboard and mouse!

I doubt anyone can answer that question for you. It really depends on what you see as being worth it to take the plunge. The second character does allow you more flexibility and capability to do things that might not be possible with a single toon, but also means that your play style changes. I personally love the play style of multiboxing, and that in and of itself is the biggest factor in keeping me boxing.

Also: with WoW do keep in mind that it is now possible to pay subscriptions with ingame gold. I'm doing this quite comfortably for my 6 accounts currently.

Interesting, I did not know that you could pay subscriptions with ingame gold with WoW. I will have to look into that. It looks like WoW is also one of the more user friendly games in terms of multiboxing support.

Lotro is EXTREMELY ANNOYING to try and handle inventory with the free account amount of bag space. I also found interact with target frustrating x6 (much better with x3, but x3 can't do all of the content as you level). I never get past about level 30 in lotro (there is one zone that I despise that makes me quit around that level) so I can't speak to anything endgamey.

A second account in wow would be a good way to get a feel for boxing.
