Default PVP Server Kill or Be Killed?

I come from 3+ years on a carebear PVE server where both factions live in boredom. When I started multi-boxing my 2 locks I wanted to experience the PVP server life since that is the portion of the game I enjoy the most (bg's and arena).

I have seen different mentallities when playing Horde on Daggerspine US. Both in groups and against the other faction I have seen everything from 70's trolling STV and killing everything to the opposing faction helping complete quests.

My Question is which are you? Do you KOS or play nice with the other kiddies?

I had a leveling rule that I would never attack unless provoked. This would prevent me from unnecessary speedbumps when I would roll someone's best buddy, who would then cause me much pain by camping me with their buddy 70's. When you're leveling, PvPing is just a waste of time that will keep you from reaching your leveling goal.

Now that I'm 70, I choose not to attack unless it's a relatively fair fight, or they attack me first. It's just no fun to roll people without any risk. However, once attacked by an enemy player without provocation, they are on my KOS list FOREVER and I will not hesitate to initiate PvP whenever and wherever I see them.

People who attack while you're doing the Ogri'la memory game are particularly obnoxious and are hunted down and killed ruthlessly.

Haha. Thanks for the response. That has been my mode of operation as well. I actually have a notepad at my computer desk of name and class that were significantly higher level or that were in a group that made it an unfair fight. I just dinged 67 on my toons this morning and my list is now 3 pages long single spaced. The fun part is I have been able to scratch off half a dozen names after finding them all by their lonesome lol

I leveled my first character (a rogue) on a heavily populated and very old pvp server (Deathwing).
This server's horde population would constantly gank me on sight and camp me, and I decided to return the favor. I will almost always engage first, provided that it looks like I have a chance to win (not hard when you're well geared). I do have exceptions of course, like when people are doing daily quests, or if a hordie is somehow helpful or nice to me (saves me from death, etc.)

This is actually an interesting topic to me, because I believe it is a psychological issue. People who got ganked when leveling will gank others IMO. When talking about behavior, people are a product of their genetics and their environment. We can't measure pvp aggressiveness with genetics, so I think its all about what they experienced.

This is much like the fact that most sexual offenders were sexually abused as children.

If this is too deep or touchy just ignore it, but I find this stuff fascinating.

I kill them all, anytime, any situation. I will occasionally let someone live, but only if I can induce more interesting pain by doing so. For example, I might help an alliance complete a group quest, but then I'll camp them so they can't reach the NPC and turn it in. I find this behavior generally brings out L70s, and then I get a good PvP workout.

Generally speaking, I will kill someone then ride off in a different direction from the one I'm actually headed. I find this keeps me safer than being a "nice guy" and letting folks follow me around and emote goofy things, etc. Curious folks have guildmates, and not all guildmates are of the watch and admire quality.

Occasionally this behavior catches up with me, but so does letting people live and attracting attention due to "Wow, you gotta see this!" comments in /g, General, Trade, LocalDefense, etc etc...

I'd kill a level 4 Gnome with 10% health that was busy fighting a mob... happily, in fact!

This is exactly how I play as well. If I'm in a good mood, I might even help an ally complete a quest or kill an elite. The flip side being that if I keep getting attacked I might roll through a zone and clean house.

The only other thing I do is if enough people from a guild try and grief me, their whole guild goes on my KOS list.

    Cheers,

I got the crap beaten out of me whilst leveling. Camped literally for days at a time so I had to res hearth a few times :P Now I'm 70 and as mentioned above if its red its dead. Doesn't matter what level you are or how many of you there are. I'm also quite fond of killing people in Area 52 where they think they're safe and lets not forget Pom Pyro + Iceblock in mid air

Edit: I don't kill people doing escorts or dailies in BEM (unless attacked first there)

Double edit: I mean seriously, I swear I got attacked more than I would have had I not been boxing

Ahh yeah this is my exception as well. All rogues have to die...

I'm with Boylston and Fursphere. I instanced to 60 power leveling so I didn't have to deal with the "speed bumps" as Vyndree stated... Now that I'm in Outlands I nuke anything red that gets within range. I know it's easy to generalize, but virtually everyone that plays this game are Oppurtunists. They may follow you at a safe distance and gawk for a minute, but they'd slaughter you in a heartbeat if they thought they'd win.

The only downside to this policy is that when you 4x Trinket/EM/CL a level 70 down, his ego is usually hurt juuuuuust enough to call in a friend or two and camp the shlt out of you. It's happened once or twice so far, but everyone rezzing at the same moment and insta gibbing one of the campers down before they know what happened makes tears of joy well from my eyes
