    Default New and Lost

    Hey all,

Well, I've had three accounts for awhile now, but it wasn't until I was in an AB in WoW and saw a druid team single handedly five cap (I just want you to picture five druids popping treants - 15 treants!!!! zomg!!!!) that I decided I may as well start putting my multiple accounts to good use.

Here's the major problem: I don't know a thing about scripts or registries or any of that. I've been a hardcore raiding WoW player for years (BC I was a rogue with warglaives, top 100 guild worldwide), but if someone told me to check my computer processes, I wouldn't even know where to go. (Slight exaggeration, it's in that ctrl alt delete thingy, which is now gone with my new windows 7, so right NOW I don't know where to go)

My computer is pimped out enough to run five clients at once if I wanted to. What I'm looking for is a USER FRIENDLY multiboxing software that takes minimal setup, and doesn't take long to learn the ins and outs of it.

Also, are there any programs people use that offer a trial? I'm so scared to commit to something, pay the $$$, and not understand any of it.

Thank you SO much for your time, and I'm looking forward to talking to you Pro-Mboxers.

EDITED: I read the wiki guides and got a LITTLE overwhelmed, again resulting in my major problem of needing something user friendly. Just wanted to let you know I did try snooping around - ISBoxer looked pretty good, and I've applied for a trial. Would still like your take on the best user friendly programs for a total nub.

If you've never multiboxed before, then no software will take minimal setup and a short time to learn. HotKeyNet is free, but you have to write scripts for your setup. Keyclone is not free and offers a trial [24 hours?], but you're stuck setting up 4,381 macros in game and it has not been updated in quite awhile. ISBoxer is not free but has a 7 day free trial, is considered by many [myself included] to be the most powerful and flexible multiboxing tool around, and is updated on a very regular basis. Past these 3 software choices, you may find minimal support here as most people here don't use anything else.

Well, there's ISBoxer ($10 for 90 days, or $36 for a year). It was a little bit tricky for me to set up, and I consider myself relatively smart on computers. Could have been the beer. Once it 'clicked', though, it was mere minutes to set up my other teams.

There's KeyClone, which I've used about 3 years. It takes minutes to set up, and is still a very nice software. It's $20 for lifetime.

There's several free ones, but I believe they all require scripts, but premade ones are usually found pretty easily.

Then you have the single must have: Jamba. It's a WoW addon that automates a lot of tasks inside WoW, such as your slaves doing the same thing when talking to quest givers, selling greys, etc, etc. It's free, of course.

Seems like ISBoxer is probably the one.

I was looking at Keyclone - but that's for multiple computers, correct? I only have the one (though I have two screens). I appreciate the feedback that has probably been said before.

Jamba I need ALONG with ISBoxer?

No, you don't need Jamba at all. ISBoxer works fine without it, but if you use Jamba, ISBoxer works with Jamba.

(But why you wouldn't want my awesome addon is beyond me!)

    I lol'ed.

I had actually already downloaded Jamba a few days ago before deciding on software after seeing screenshots of the interface, but couldn't access the interface when I was in game. I'm really a moron when it comes to setting up addons, though I have MANY (oh so many) running.

I'm hoping as soon as WoW is up I can do some troubleshooting myself - but now I know where to track you down if I still can't access the interface. /evil laugh

I'm definitely going with ISBoxer and decided I was too impatient to wait for them to accept me for a 7 day. What's 10$ anyways? Reasonable for 90 days, for sure. I really appreciate all the responses - I can't tell you how much I really just needed SUPPORT of people who have been doing it flat out TELLING me what to do. I don't know anyone who multiboxes, so I was extremely overwhelmed.

Thanks again! And I'll keep you posted on where this takes me. I'm sure I'll have many troubleshooting questions in the coming days.

I'd say that regardless of what software you use to broadcast your keyclicks / macros / gameclient stuff, you really do need jamba. There is no addon I have come across that made my boxing easier than Jamba. I think that you will agree as well.

KC can be used for one computer - if you want to use it on multiple computers, you have to buy multiple too.

Have used KC for 2 years - but are now on ISBoxer and not looking back

With Keyclone, you need one license per computer.
You can run several accounts on the one PC, assuming the PC is strong enough.
I started with three (went to five, within a day) accounts on one PC, with Keyclone.

I'd strongly recommend IS Boxer as your boxing software.
To my knowledge, nothing else is close in terms of power, flexibility, and relative ease of use.
HKN is almost as powerful, but requires knowledge of its scripts if you want to change something from the defaults.

There are a lot of software options beyond these, but my recommendation is IS Boxer.

The wizard gets you a functional interface very quickly.
You won't need many (if any) warcraft macros, although I like to have a lot of macros in warcraft and have IS Boxer send keybinds to my warcraft clients.
At a simple level, drag your Fireball, Lightning Bolt, Shadow Bolt and Wrath spells to button #1 in warcraft on each of your four toons (or two, or five, whatever).
When you press "1" in game, the non-active toons will assist the active toon, and they'll all cast whatever is on "1" at the current toon's target.

There are a lot of videos and such on how to set things up, find these on www.isboxer.com.
I've got a fairly detailed guide on the software in my signature.
If you have problems, quite a few knowledgeable people frequent this site, Lax frequently checks the IS Boxer forums on his site, and there is an IRC to ask a question in as well.

We all started out small, or at least I did. We also walked up Mt Hyjal in the snow without boots both ways. My simpliest thing to offer is start small. Get 2 chars to /follow. Then /assist. Then add in a macro to do /cast. Then after you are good at that, add in nicer/fancier stuff, like options in macros /cast [options] Spell. Then add in 3rd and more players will be too easy since you already have 90% of it down. The knowledge grows. They keybinds and macros grow. Don't worry if at first all you can do is auto-attack. That is a start. You can add in more stuff later (Interact with Target, accept all macro, dealing with people not in the same group---BG/WG/ToL).

Things that I like. Authenticators, if they get one account, they could have all 5, that is a lot of work to lose. I hate targeting things, so I love [options] in spells to do the targeting for me. /cast [@focus-target] DPSSpell, /cast [@focus-target-target] HealSpell. I like to do objectives in PVP, so when a little snappy kid tries to say I must suck at PVP that I have to play 5 chars, I say, "Capture an objective then mouth off". That usually shuts up the HKers.

Welcome, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, and good luck.
