Hmm, wonder if 4 shadowpriests and a prot pally would work for dungeons. Still holding out hope for the 5x pally team though. If shadowpriests can kick out enough passive healing for the tank, I might give them a shot. Then again, blizz still has a lot of work to do on pallies... Maybe they will boost divine storm healing back to about where it is now.
I think in another month or two we will all know for sure what kind of teams will and won't work for pve and pvp. I just wish blizz had a better way of going about "trying to reinvent the wheel".

my concern(adn the reason why im not concidering my pallies atm) is the change towards a more procbased system, i just hate to manage procs.. but as you say, we will see when we get more info close to release, and i do belive 4 priests and a prot would do really good(fingers crossed)!

I'm not quite sure what I'll do if I come back for Cataclysm. I have 4x shaman, 4x paladin, DK, and priest on my accounts. I think shaman will probably work pretty well again, so that's an option if there's enough changes to make it interesting again (I burned out on that team about 9 months ago). If melee works again, I'd love to see what the paladins can do, maybe sub in a warrior or enh shaman which I have waiting at 80.

Really want to try another all caster team though. Have always wanted to try druids or mages... or revisit locks/priest which is what I played at 70. I don't really do gimmick teams anymore though... I need to at least be able to do heroics with a tank and tear up BGs - arenas I'm not as concerned about anymore. They're kind of played out, I always enjoyed BGs more and the dynamics of arena really limited you to about 2 or 3 viable comps max... some really fun comps in BGs (lock teams, boomkins, etc.) were just worthless in arena.

Good post, I figured you and asomine were taking a break or quit the game completely. I remember you playing your Zs while everyone was playing the standard sham teams during BC. I look forward to your posts in cata.

I just tried a BG experiment for the past 4 nights. I was playing 2 ele/1 boomkin. I also switched up the boomkin one night to resto. The thing I hated about playing anything with shamans was that they couldnt insta GW so I always had to mount up and this meant I couldnt carry the flag in wsg, however as everyone knows the druids can insta cat and run at the same speed. It worked surprisingly well. Obliviously, its not a great 3s/arena team(gimmick, if that), but its a great BG team. I am not a pve boxing guy, but you could add druids to the team for heroics or a bigger pvp team. Its something I am thinking about honestly. I love starfall and it was pretty easy to protect it with the shamans so I got the full duration without it being being canceled adding in the fact that they can help heal and best CC is a major bonus. One thing I really love about cyclone is you dont have to face your target to cast it and it can be cast in moonkin form.

There is only 1 BG where killing matters and that is killing the enemy FC in WSG if there is one. In all the other BGs you dont have to kill a single person to win the game, you could conceivably win the game without killing anyone. Something to think about when making BG teams. Where tatics and surviablity becomes more inportant than dmg. I wish blizzard kept stats of BGs- I believe the more druids(esp druid healers) you have on your wsg team the better chance of winning and the more rogues you have in AB the better chance of winning. This is given if its a pug, if there is a 2s team playing in a BG like war/healer for example they can pretty much dominate and carry the BG because most players suck.

Lets not forget the absolute best class for BGs, the class the has dominated since the beginning and still holds the #1 title where 1 amazing player can carry a BG(non AV) by him or herself..........The Hunter.

I keep feeling drawn to my druids because of the fact that they're the most flexible class in the game. It's true solo and it's definitely true while multiboxing PvE or PvP.

I suspect shamans will continue to be strong, but I like the stealth aspect of druids in BGs. I wish they had better buff stacking, but one can't have everything!
    Cranky old-timer.

I think druids own WSG at low levels. I used to twink 19 and there were horde bear/healer combos that owned everything. Hunters did waste the rest of the horde as their burst was just too good. 3 Hunters on defense .... were almost as good as the bear, alot of long matches before they changed WSG

Only today did I find the energy to read about the changes in classes for Cata and like so many here I also feel that the druids and spriests get the most out of it.

I am leaning towards a feral team as the cats might get mangle buffed. Also recalled the druid guild some years ago in our BG who did WSG with 10 bears and they pawned. Might see how that works for AoE leveling (the AoE bleed seems nice).

I find the problem with spriests tend to lean on them being like paper. Use to druid + 4x ele and they could handle a few hits atleast. Then again the insta sp dd spell might get me to level a team of sp's.

Shammies, as said here earlier, will prolly be a safe bet.

My concern for Cata fights is that they will increase AoE dmg and movement for PvE. I would love to hear from a Beta tester more of these kind of changes to the game. The fact that the "healing game" is being changed towards pre TBC style is a concern for me. Overhealing is just meh!

Sorry if this didn't make any sense but it's 1.30am.

Sorry, Rupt, but my impressions are different.

I feel like AoE is being reduced.
Healing is not getting more powerful because mana is supposed to be scarce.

    Gnome warrior + gnome priest

I toyed with the idea of doing gnome warrior, gnome priest, gnome mage, and gnome lock, seeing as I have 80s of all of these, but I don't think I can afford to pay for four accounts with my measly grad student income.

My bad, ment to say that pre TBC and from what I understood the mana will be an issue for healers thus eliminating mind blowing overheals (which I now love to do ).

The Blackrock Caverns atleast has some AoE and kiting. :/
