Default Quad PvP Team - Hunter x 4

    Hey guys,

I am brand new to multi boxing. For now I am taking 4xHunter to 19 just to see how it works. My plan was to run 4xShaman to 70 if I like it.

I was wondering about the Hunter class in multi boxing and if it was a good or bad choice. I have read a few of the FAQ's and class selection and it says to avoid Hunters (correct me if I misread). What is the reason behind this?

It doesn't say avoid hunters, it says avoid hunters with melee characters. Hunters synergy with that type of class isn't very good to put it bluntly. Multiple hunters are great together, they burn mobs down fast, can take on larger groups of mobs using pets and traps for cc, and they are really easy to play.

Actually, the reference is probably to hunters having dead zones in the past, which isn't true anymore. It used to be that if an enemy got less than a certain distance from you, you couldn't shoot it anymore. Anyway, there are 4-5 hunter groups around.

The main issues for hunters as multiboxers are:

    1. Always having to face the target to dps.

    2. Lack of AOE.

    3. No wipe prevention in Instances, unless you go engineering.

    4. Can't do heroics.

That said, they do offer pretty good burst damage for pvp, have great CC in form of traps, and customisable pets are pretty good too.

    Cheers,

Actually it's a very reasonable class to PvP with, I've been toying around with 4 hunters as well and theory crafting and they have the potential to be amazing.

I used to do a 2v2 arena team with another hunter and it went well, the only times we had problems really were when we were disagreeing on targets - Multiboxing passes this problem with ease.

Additionally I did level a 4 hunter 1 priest team to 30 and found it fun and exciting, boar pets worked wonders as i nuked down backs at once.

A decent team of hunters in arena has the potential of doing very well if you get to grips with it.

I've been playing a 4 Hunter 1 Paladin team , stuff dies quickly, positioning is a PITA at times, the more i level the better they are getting however.

So I can see a few advantages in PvP, especially BG PvP.

Huge Range being the first/biggest advantage. Like shaman, they aren't incredibly squishy (Mail, but no shield). I think you also have decent Rogue/Warrior/Melee protection with multiple ice/frost traps that can be plopped down. I'm not a super huge expert, but I think one of the specs allows you to be CC immune for a short time? Does this work to prevent fear bombs?

Ellay-- What are the biggest highpoints that a 4xHunter team would have, in your opinion?

Typically I've been running through the scenario's in Arenas and they definitely will not perform at the par my Shamans are but here are the benefits.

I would aim more towards Beast Mastery spec and pop the 41 point talent rendering you immune to fear trains/cc trains for 18 seconds, which is a huge amount of time to take out targets.
Vice Versa you have 4 Pets to run a Stun train with Intimidation on the target of your picking locking them down long enough to hopefully burst and kill.
With a Quadruple Arcane Shot your stripping off all of their buffs and probably taking off BoP instantly if it is ever placed on the target.
Multi-Shot is putting healing pressure on more than 1 target.
Flares enable Rogues to never have an opener on you.
Frost Trapss with entrapment means you can avoid taking melee damage and lock down targets quite effectively.

Counters to the combo would be that they run away when you blow Beast Within, rendering your main offensive useless. A heavy melee team would probably destroy it

Arena would be pretty hard with hunters, line of sight will bite you, dead zone will bite you, melee intensive groups will eat you. Actually I think you will be left with a fairly static group thats hard to manouver and doesnt have too much answering to melee. But ofc multiboxing is partly for passing set boundaries so you could try and succeed never the less.
