Default Lead dies - How to switch assist?

Hey I am currently looking for help to edit my macros, I took some time off from multiboxing but want to get back into it, i'm sitting with my shamans at the moment using /assist CharA macros.

When he dies I use buttons to switch main screen but is there a macro I can use which will allow the other clones to now assist Char B?

Many ways, you could use FTL http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=10968
You could macro an action bar switch http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...st_using_Pages
    Assist without focus http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde..._without_focus
    Focus Live toon http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...ocus_Live_toon
    Focus with modifiers http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...with_modifiers
Assist via party assignment or focus http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...nment_or_Focus

I personally use a /focus (toonname) on my window swap keys, and /assist focus.

If you're using a party leader system, then switch to another window and have the new toon the leader on the switch.
Ditto for a Focus based approach.

With FTL, switch to any window, and the others assist based on where the command came from.

IS Boxer is the only software program, which does FTL for you.
You can drag Lightning Bolt, Fireball, Frostbolt and Shadow Bolt to button 1, on four toons.
No matter which one you are on, when you press 1, the other three auto assist you and all cast the spell on "1".
You can switch toons and within a second (double your latency actually; all boxing hardware or software has this same latency issue), the others know who to assist.
And this is straight spells from the spell book, no macro.
    EverQuest I: Bard / Enchanter / Druid / Wizard / 2x Magician.
    Diablo III: 4x Crusader & 4x Wizard.

it's actually that amount of time after you select a target that /assist knows who to target. switching toons isn't the issue

Before I switched to an FTL setup (which is THE way to go I reckon), I had a macro to elect a new focus along the lines of:

    /clearfocus
/focus [target=toon1, exists, nodead][target=toon2, exists, nodead] (repeated for however many toons your boxing)

This was bound to a hotkey on all the toons, and if my leader died, I'd press the key, making the next toon in line the new focus.

Still, that said, go FTL - you'll never look back.
...for when one toon just isn't enough...

It just seems like a big change and I wouldn't know how to adapt from my current play to a FTL play.

Without knowing your particulars to be sure, all I can suggest is that time spent in setting your team up properly will directly translate into your teams success.

If you're 5 boxing and looking to do your own Heroics, basic setups aren't going to cut it really. If you're planning on concentrating on PvP, then a /focus based setup will be a real drawback too.

How many toons are you boxing? What's the end-goals for the team?
