    Default Group selection. I'm torned!

    Hey all.

I've been boxing for a while some time ago but let it go. I just recently picked it up again and tried ISBoxer and wow its a nice program.

Anywho, my problem is I dont really know which group to go for. I have a group of 1 pala tank and 4x shammy @ around lvl 42.
I just started making 5x priest because I think its fun.

My question is what the best group would be. I want to do 5 man dungeons and some pvp bg's once in a while. I have a lvl 80 shammy, druid and DK on my main acc so should I go with the pala, 4x shammy setup and use my last shammy to 5x shammy bg's or should I keep leveling the 5x priests for 5x priest bg's and DK tank, 4x priest dungeons? And is that even playable?

    I'm really torned.

I hope you can come with some great inputs

    Thanks in advance

Everything will work. A very nice combination for me is:

    - pally tank
    - shaman dps
    - shaman dps
    - warlock dps
    - druid healer

And recently i've discovered the joy to swap chars back and forth, depending on the mood of the day and the encounter.

    - 5x shammies for pvp rocks. Even running 5x shamy through some dungeons is very fun.
    - having another tank to lead with makes it more interesting (druid or dk)
    - having pally tank + 3 dk's + disc priest is fun as hell
Everything that is fun in life is either bad for your health, immoral or illegal!

First thing to say is play whatever combination is fun for you!

My experience has been making a pally tank/mage/mage/lock/priest team, hitting 71 and then crash and burn trying to clear UK..... team got shelved quick since 5-mans are the reason I box.

Leveled that pally tank to 80, geared her solo through randoms and badges and then brought up 4 shammies to make the team Pally/ 4 shams.... awesome team. I've since dropped one sham for the warlock from the first group and she helps the sham dps overall quite a bit so that makes it fun too.

First solo char was a DK that I got to 80 before I started boxing, I've also pushed 4 Ret pallies up to 68 to play with the DK as a DK+4 Rets team. From reading these forums, this team is fantastic.....once they are amazingly geared. Before they are amazingly geared, and/or I become amazing at playing them, they really struggle with clearing lvl 65 normal dungeons with an 80 DK in the lead.... not quite the super-OP "smoke everything within 40 yards as they run through the dungeons without even getting out of breath" team that everyone seems to experience at the higher gear levels. Out in the world running quests they are amazing, everything dies in 1-2 GCD but dungeon bosses with AoE and other effects make these encounters much more challenging.

I've also started a 5 rogues team, they are only lvl 7 but they are super fun, everything dies in one hit as they literally run past without pausing, just run by and spam the dps key and everything within melee range falls over dead

    TL / DR....
Play what you find fun, don't pick your classes based on someone elses idea of the most powerful combination.

Also... nerfs and buffs come in waves. Youre going to be chasing after blizz constantly if youre going for a "power build".

Go with class (s) you truly enjoy. Maybe make a theme for your team and stick with it.
Start with a tank and a healer and go from there. When you vastly outgear your content you can even loosen those requirements a bit.

I have a warrior, priest, mage, warlock and druid team (80x2, 77x3). They cleared instances at their level with practice. It wasn't easy but I was determined to see them through. With practice I was able to succeed. I agree with what Redbeard is saying, a power build will be more likely to get nerfed. I am waiting for blizz to nerf pallys into oblivion as my pally build (prot, holy and 3x rets) is stupid powerful. Ideally, play what is fun to you. If you want to be succesful in heroics then build an AoE tank and strong healer. The dps can come from anywhere but there are some easier choices. In my humble opinion, the pally tank and shaman healer is the combo that can take any 3x dps and make it work. The reason why I have a warrior tank in my first team is because I love warriors. IMO warriors and druids make very bad tank options for boxers. They can work with practice though but you will spend some time being frustrated at first trying to make all your toons synergize correctly.

For PVP - 5x Shamans and 5 Paladins do very well.

For both PVE and PVP - 5x Pallys do very well. Although I don't have any experience on this but I will echo what others are saying about DK + Retsx4.

    Good luck on your Team.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think i'll try with DK + 4 ret pallies as I really love ret pally hehe Just wondering if theres some guide or something to do that. I mean I never multiboxed melee dps before and how do you heal? Flash of light with all the ret pallies?

Ret pallys have passive heals through divine storm among other means.

This is VERY important if you plan on making 5-man PvE content a part of your gaming experience. Just to pre-empt any confusion, you don't actually have to have people specced or play them in a certain role, they just need to be able to satisfy the 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 DPS minimum queueing requirement.
    Cranky old-timer.
