Default Plan to Arena but PVE

Pondering this now that my team is 79... (WOOT)
with the badges from doing dungeons are you guys buying PVP gear first? and the PVP gear is still good enough to keep running the dungeons and move up to harder Heroics?.
    or
Do you get PVE teir sets and clear through the dungeons faster then deal with arena gear?

I think it's better to get the PVE badge gear first. Then do BGs and use Arena points to buy the PVP gear.

Buy the offset Wrathful pieces first, ring, neck, wrists, cloak.

With your triumph badges you only get the crappy 232 pvp gear. You can buy the 232 gear with honor, and the 251 gear with honor and arena points.

Its still faster depending on your group comp to do heroics for badges + gold over pure honor.

I just hit 80 in January, and my 2 week gearing process was to use badges on furious gear, and honor on the wrathful offset stuff. You will be just fine running heroics in pvp gear. (My "pve" gear has like 900 resil still rofl)

Be sure to do WG as much as possible. (The cloak, neck and shoulders are very good to get when gearing, as they take much less effort to get, and the shoulders are actually better than the furious gear you'll get from badges.)

Looking at you team now tho, not so sure how well tanking works in pvp gear. My team is 4 Shamans healing and dpsing, which is fine in pvp gear as elemental shamans have strong heals, and rarely go oom. Not sure how well the ret pallys can heal the group, or who youre gonna tank with.

I think that you probably want/need to spend some badges on PvE gear for your tank. Honestly, however, I am confident that the BEST way to deal with gearing up your tank is to find some way to generate income (farming, tradeskills, AH, etc) and then use that gold to get your tank into a TOC25 GDKP run if they happen on your server.

I run a DK+4xRet team and was able to get my DK into a LOT of 245 pieces by doing two GDKP runs. This made all instance running so much easier with a geared tank.

For the DPS gang, I spent a few triumph badges on PvE gear and regretted it almost immediately. I would only consider doing this over again if you absolutely cannot have success in BGs or any heroics.

    My recommendation is to...

    * Lose 10 games a week for arena points in 5v5, use these points+honor to buy best PvP gear you can for your team.

    * Play and win the random BG each day to maximize your honor gain/time invested. Use honor to buy the best non-rating-required PvP gear for the off-slots (neck, rings, boots, waist, etc)

    * Do wintergrasp quests each week for the honor, consider playing WG during your playtime for the marks/honor.

    * Attempt the daily heroic each day for the Frost badges and extra triumph badges.

    * Spend triumph and frost badges on critical upgrades that will help both PvP and PvE (e.g. Frost Badges on the DPS Libram). Spend triumph on 232 PvP items at the beginning to help jump-start your PvE and BG performance.

    * Make sure you have 219 weapons ASAP from Pit of Saron/Normal. Try to get your team 245+ level weapons with GDKP runs or PUG runs of TOC/ICC. (more on weapons here).

Only if you have no desire to PvP would I recommend spending Triumph badges on PvE pieces for your DPS. It's worth it to gear up a tank, but I think it's a waste for your DPS crew.

My tank is actually already 80 and has some Naxx10 gear.
I have been doing the WG for sure, our server is some how 2:1 ratio and alliance don't ever do WG except on reset. (Aka they never own/win/controll it.) think current standings are like - Alliance: Keep Defended: 11 /Keep Captured: 347
    Horde: Keep Defended: 489 /Keep Captured: 374

Ret pallies so far have been great on healing. though i do not know if i will end up getting bottle necked in heroics. (done all the dungeons up to 79 no problem)

Will do 10games a week min for arena even if not geared.

**Don't really want to random BG without good PVP gear.. scurrred of flamers =l**
(tho people have welcomed n cheered me in WG since 77 =p)

I guess I can try to do a few ICC / TOC on my Tank and try to get/buy gear. (but gearscore will prob hold me back unless paying)

    Thanks for input guys
