Just got 3-day banned for "macroing"

Apparently the eve gm's can't tell the difference between macroing and multiboxing. I just got banned while highsec mining in my 12 ospreys+drake gang bonuses. I submitted a petition and will update on the results. I was just starting to get shit rolling too and was having some fun. Was gonna revive the 12 raven+drake fleet of doom...

Ya I'm bored of wow... this new season started and i got a taste of the resilience buff and didnt like it.

Eve with synchronized mouseclicks is so much fun though. Epic volleys of missiles... I had to control my 12 guys 6 at a time since there's 2 on each computer. I dont know how the hell im going to make money if i get banned everytime i mine though. I was planning on hooking up with my old goonfleet buddies after i got back on my feet for some more space destruction but i literally was playing for 2-3 days before i got banned. Just ridiculous... I guess if enough idiots report you because they dont understand then sooner or later an ignorant GM will come along and ruin all your hard work.

I can see people easily mistaking multibox mining for bots. There's no real herky/jerky movement that makes them super-easy to spot like in WoW. And with all the vids of people suicide-bombing entire fleets of bots in mid/high-sec space, I'm sure it's just a simple mistaken identity case. It'll be interesting what the GMs say about it.

Are you sure that using "synchronized mouseclicks" is allowed? Everything I've read is that you have to tab between windows and perform each task separately or it's against the rules.

The ban specifically stated "macro use". If they're actually upset with me multiboxing with sync'ed mouseclicks then that's another story. As far as I know the only game that has come out against stuff like that is EQ2, everyone else doesn't seem to have a problem as long as you are the one clicking the mouse or keyboard each time.

You were probably reported by a real botter - who was in system for a long time before you got the ban?

Botting is rife in EVE becasue its so easy to do - maybe 50+% of 'players'

From the part about Eve Online:

You are welcome to use multiple accounts at the same time, no matter how many accounts you are using.

What we understood you were asking with regards to multiboxing, was controlling all of those account with a single keystroke program or mouse click copy program.

To make it more clear: You may use as many accounts as you wish at the same time, however you may not use a program to control more then 1 account at the same time with the same keystrokes/mouse, you will need to actually switch between the windows to control them.
