Thread: Insane tanks!

I've had to equip lower iLevel stuff on my tank because there is so much goddamn hit on everything that drops in ICC. My tank, a fucking tank, almost has hit the spell hit cap through gear alone. Fuck you blizzard.

My multiboxing tank is also major raid tank in my guild, 10 and 25 man.

I am currently the best geared tank on my server (5892 GS, 3200 Wow-heroes score) according to Wow-heroes.com (Sethra, linked in the signature).

When full raid buffed (and I sub in a stamina trinket for the nonstamina one) I can hit almost 58k. When I'm 5-boxing, I do 5-mans at 52k-ish.

Blizzard made picking up tanking gear very easy with 3.3, you can hit 40k with crafted+badge gear without having to step foot in a single raid. I have 3 tanks each with 40k, just so I can play around with the different plate tank classes

the crazy thing is my DK and warrior each hit nearly 35k in just their PVE DPS gear when raid buffed, more than tanks had when starting naxx... our guilds druid tank also is coming up on 60k buffed up, over 100k when popping druid-last-stand

Probably true, but it's going to take a lot of work and time.

My Paladin was only played in my groups (never used solo for gear) and never ran a raid. After a fair bit of heroics farming, she only sits at 34k HP unbuffed :

Hit rating is overrated for tanking...

Although there was this one time in Naxx on Four Horseman, I was assigned to pull off one of the bosses as the other tank started the pull. My ranged Faerie Fire missed, and then the backup Taunt missed, and the boss outranged me and wiped the raid. I was only 1% away from the cap, so that double-miss situation shouldn't happen often at all.... but boy was it memorable.
    Cranky old-timer.

I love how you contradict yourself here.

This is exactly why tanks should be hit capped.

You contradict yourself here with your own character Fur.

171 Hit Rating. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, I thought maybe you don't raid on your tank and its just for heroics. Checking your character feed you seems to do plenty of 10 and 25 man raiding.

Sure in an ideal world being hit capped would be lovely but its way down the priority list because 99.9% of the time you are so far ahead in threat that if you missed abilities or hell did nothing for 30 seconds your probably not going to have any pull aggro not bringing into account MD or TotT.

Personally I thought Bolystons story was pretty funny and it made me laugh because I can imagine it happening to me and how I would feel in that oh, shit! raid wiping moment.

And on-topic I love perving at other tanks and wishing some of those items would drop in the raids I attend rather than eleventy billion pieces of Paladin Healing gear that everyone groans everytime it drops.

    My tank(s) are nubs.

But the one time you miss a tuant - is the time you should have been hit capped. When I was raiding naxx and doing four hoursemen, you bet your ass I was hit capped. I don't actively raid end game content with my pally anymore, so he's in need of maintenence.

But you can be a fuck and play games if you like. My point still stands.

I MT'd Ulduar 25 when it was SRSBSNS. I often ran with 40-50 Hit rating, never once had a problem. Blind luck? Probably.
