Thread: Macro Addons.

  1. #1

    Default Macro Addons.

I plan to start using a macro addon. I've search the forums and found some info but because some posts are older I wanted to ask what people currently use.

I'm not sure if these are spelt right or even exist anymore but I've found these on the forum and will going to look into:
    Bindpad
    SuperMacro
    SuperDuperMacro
    Macaroon.

    Thanks for the input.

I was using Bindpad up until a few weeks ago. It did the job, but I didn't like that the buttons were "locked" in the Bindpad interface. By that, I mean you can't drag the Bindpad buttons to your hotbars, you have to bind your hotkeys to the Bindpad interface, so you don't see the macro at all. I much prefer to have movable buttons so I can quickly and easily swap out macros for different things.

These days I'm using SuperDuperMacro. I like being able to move buttons and I love being able to write the macro on one toon and send it to the rest of my team. But, it seems rather abandoned at this point in time, so I'd love to see other suggestions.

Does SuperDuperMacro let you exceed the 255 limit?

I don't have crazy number of longer macros (like <5), so I just use /click ButtonName (put in actual name of the button) if I get a really long one.
    Macro 1:
    #showstuff
    /cast DoStuff
    ...
    /cast DoMoreStuff
    /click CT_BarActionButton47

    Macro 2:
    /cast OMGDoMoreStuff
    ...
    /cast ICan'tRunOutOfStuffToDo

Hope that helps. It never breaks on patch day. Never needs updating. You can use less than 300 addons and is simple.

Yes Superdupermacro lets you exceed 255 characters. It has some nice features. Send to group, send to raid. That's if the rest of the raid/group also uses superdupermacro. One thing I use it for is to utilize /click. You don't have to add all your macro's to buttons. You can call them from SDM book using /click.

I use SuperDuperMacro as well. It's very nice.

I have built a macro addon as part of Jamba, which I am considering pulling it out to its own addon as well. At the moment, it lets you make macros (up to 1024 characters each) and you can bind them to a key.

You can group macros into sets and swap sets easily. I could have a F1-F5 bound to healing spells and then with a single command, have those keys bound to damage spells.

Its a bit more advanced than that, in that you can have variables in your macros as well, but you don't need to use those.

Using Jamba you can push the macros to your other toons.

Anyway, I'm looking for ways to make the addon better, so if you are interested, the thread is here:

I'll give the Jamba solution a try for sure when I can grab the next full update.

As for SupeDuperMacro, I am playing with it now. For anyone using it: have you used the send/receive function: How does it work exactly?

The send receive function only works if you are within raid/group/buff distance. Toon B will hit receive and then toonA hits send.. pretty simple. A few things. Only Global and self char specific macros can be sent. So like shaman A can't send lockA's specific macro's.

They have to hit receive before you hit send. For the life of me I couldn't figure out at first why it wasnt working. There is a distance check or something cuz I tried sending macros from a toon in Dal to toons in diff cities and it never worked but as soon as I ported to within buffing distance it worked.

oooh. That's a little less useful than I had hoped.
