Default Simple jamba question: getting your slave to attack

It's going on 3 hours now and I still can't get my slave to attack. The only addon I have downloaded for dual boxing is Jamba. Do I need something else? I followed the documentation to a tee and still can't get it.

I have it configured (so I think) that when I mark a mob with a star, the macro for my slave kicks off (the macro in the Jamba-Target section). It's a lock so the macro is:

    /assist mastertoon
    /cast Shadow Bolt

When I mark the mob with a star, i notice on the slave screen, in the chat, it displays the above macro written out, however he does nothing. This is driving me crazy. I have scoured the forums but cannot find anything that has helped.

    Anyone?

    Thanks in advance.

Does "mastertoon" have this target? Jamba is a great add-on, but you don't need it to attack. There are many ways to go, I use focus.
Form your party, Slave party leader to Focus, then your macro to /assist focus. I use a separate macro for assist then I can see the target on each toon and see if that toon is in range before the attack starts.

if its writing it out in the chat box your macro is wrong. check for spaces in front of the slashes

macros dont normally output anything to the chat unless you want them to
    Bot (80 Paladin) / Carfire (80 Shaman)
    Alliance, Madoran US

    Thanks for the speedy response!

The macro is written correctly. I double checked the spacing and when I copy and paste to a WoW macro and run, it works. Again, I'm using the macro space allotted within Jamba under the Jamba-Target tab.

Acattle, I'm not sure I follow you. Are you are saying I don't need Jamba to have my slavetoon attack? How do I set that up? How can I tell my slavetoon to attack what the mastertoon is attacking from my mastertoon's keyboard. Right now I lean over to my slavetoon keyboard and hit a macro button? I feel like I'm missing a simple concept here.

    Please show me the light!

    Thanks.

Probably you need a software, one of
    - keyclone
    - octopus
    - auto hotkey
    - inner space

If you push button 1 in one client it will push button 1 in ALL your connected clients. How you connect your clients depends on the software you use. You could also get a wireless keyboard with several (eg USB) receivers, then you dont need the software.

I'll assume you're using a software broadcast program... Keyclone is the easiest to set up, Innerspace is really tempting me to experiment with it (both are either pay or subscription options). Octopus, Auto HotKey, HotkeyNet are free (as far as I know) options.

If you press the space bar on your main screen, does the slave jump as well? Basically I'm asking if you are successfully broadcasting from your main client to your slaves/followers.

If this is the case, then you need macro's that work.

The easiest assist method to start with is Focus based.
I'd recommend moving from focus to something more powerful down the road.
Still Focus will get you started.

Assuming you have two toons, called Jack and Jill.
Both toons have a macro (on say Keybind Control F1):
    /Focus Jack
    /follow Jack

Both toons have a macro (keybound to Control F2):
    /Focus Jill
    /Follow Jill

Within Keyclone's maximizer settings, you have Jack's region hotkeyed to Control F1. Similarly hotkey the switch to Jill's region to Control F2.

When you press Control F2, keyclone brings Jills region to the front, and warcraft has both toons set Jill as their focus, and Jack starts to follow Jill. Control F1, reverses this.

Now on hotkey 1 - Jack is a warlock so he has:
    /assist Focus
    /cast Shadowbolt

Also on hotkey 1 - Jill is a mage, so she has:
    /assist Focus
    /cast Fireball

When you press 1, both toons assist the active (Focus) toon and then cast their spell.

    That's a basic set up.

Addons cannot control your character for you. You still need to press a button to attack. You are using Jamba-Target. You need to go into the keybindings setup of WoW (Main Menu -> Keybindings) and scroll down to the section called Jamba-Target. Assign a key to the star. Now, you mark a target with the star raid icon, then the slave prints the macro, the you press the key you just assigned to star and your slave attacks.

The manual for Jamba-Target is here (it has screenshots!):

form your party. the slave has the party leader picture on its screen, right click and press "Set Focus" now whatever the leader is targeting, the slave will target.

    Your macro is
    /assist focus
    /cast spell

That is the simplest way to start. get that working and we can improve upon that.

It just dawned on me that I am using the wrong terminology. I am 'Multi Boxing', not dual boxing. I just discovered the difference. I have a desktop and a laptop (on same network). Each have a copy of WoW on them. I log on each machine with separate accounts. My issue is not being able to hot key them. I read up on Auto Hotkey, but I get the impression that is used for one machine with two intances of WoW on it.

Yes, I now deserve the NOOB title. I am sorry.

I will still try what is mentioned above. Thank you for the thorough posts. I have not had a chance to log on (I'm at work), but tonight I will take another stab at it. If you have posted anything above that simply would be foolish to try now knowing I'm multi boxing, please let me know so I don't waste any more time.

Yes, I am determined to get this working. Plus time's a ticking (RAF is only for 90 days!)

Try hotkeynet. Here is a sample script for 2 wows on 2 computers.
