I wouldn't do more than 2. My laptop has better specs with that, and I struggle with three instances.

With just 1 GB of ram, you can barely run two. In parts of the world with lots of people or scenary, your computer is going to thrash to the hard drive.

Your operating system is using a few hundred MB, so you really don't have a full gig for WoW.

Any chance you can pop another gig in your pc?

my recommendation is to get another 1G+ of RAM.

if your only going to be dual boxing then you can only link 1 account the the other. if you already have a main account then use that 1 to RAF another account

    hope this helps some ^_^

I agree you need more RAM. Its extremly cheap these days, so another Gig or two will hardly set you back at all.

As for RAF: Check out the Wiki.

I had a similar question to OP so I hope you don't mind me posting in this thread.

    My specs

    Intel Duo @ 3.16ghz
    Vista x64
    4 G DDR2
    Nvidia 9800 gt

Think I could handle 3 or would I run into problems?

My laptop isn't as beefy as your and I can run 3 w/o too many problems. I avoid more than one toon in Dalaran, more than two toons in AV, and my graphic settings are set to the lowest (including view distance).

OP: get another 1G of RAM and you could run at least 3, up to 5 if you don't mind some chugging here and there.

6s&7s: You could 5 box on that if you wanted.
No matter where you go, there you are.
