I use one specific bag spot for food, so feeding becomes:

/cast Feed Pet
/use 4 5
Why use a bag slot? Why not just name the food you feed your pet.

/cast feed pet

/use Clefthoof ribs (etc)

that way it doesn't matter what bag slot your food is in. I use this for my pets and it works great.
