I don't feel like scaling back helps anything. I always still have the 5+ characters to play, so even if I leave them out I still have them sitting out missing the quest and slowing my DPS. But I don't ever find having 5 to be an annoyance at all, either

I play 2 boxes exclusively on 2 separate computers. I treat them as separate characters. I have been raiding on my main account while healing an instance on my other, just bouncing my attention back and forth. I find this much more exciting and quicker to react than having to swap windows or rely on pre-set macros. This is how I enjoyed EQ, CoH, and now WoW. I just don't like having any of my characters auto-following and working from macros. I enjoy this playstyle more but that is MY reference. 5 boxing looks amazingly fun but its not my thing personally.

I've been dual-boxing recently to level up my pally/druid, which is a lot more fun than 5-boxing for sure. But it applies to levelling only - I don't mind the gear-grind with 5 chars, it's mostly the levelling and even while levelling you have the option to dungeon crawl instead of questing. The primary reasons I 5-box are:

    1) The challenge of doing content made for single-boxing
    2) Avoiding PUG's
    3) It allows you to do stuff by yourself and you don't need to accomodate anyone else, but you can still choose to let other people in for the social aspect, you just don't _have to_ :-)

Most of these only applies to 5-boxing, so while I agree that 5-boxing can be a pain while levelling, it's very much worth it once you max out your level (IMO).

I play both 5 toon and 1. 5-box to do instances and I raid with my warlock and my warrior, and separate times. But I don't think I would ever go down to 3-boxing. It's either 1 or 5 for me.

The concept of grinding or collection quest never bothered me ... go play EQ for a few years and grinding just becomes second nature

I currently two box, haven't been going for that long either...but I have two views:

    1) Dual Boxing is tough enough, I couldn't imagine 5 boxing. So I want to stay with just two...maybe 3.

    2) The whole point of me wanting to multibox was to be able to run through instances by myself. So 2-3 boxing just doesn't cut it, so I want to upgrade to 5.

    I'm so torn.

Only time I'm not 5 boxing is if I'm 3v3ing for fun, or if my g/f is doing an instance with me. Sometimes ill 4 box in BG's to queue with my g/f. I feel if you have 5 accounts why aren't you 5 boxing? 2 or 3 boxing seems to be a waste of time you can maye do BGs / 2v2 / 3v3 ... and quests/dailies WOOHOOO. You have to group with scrubs to do any instances, and the less people you have in a BG the higher the chance that that slot is filled by a moron.

Collecting 150 naga claws was annoying.
You my friend have patients by the truck load. If I have to collect more than 2 of anything I drop it. The naga claws have caused the demise of more than a few solo players let alone MB'ers
At least Naga Claws are (or nearly) a 100% drop rate.
Yeah, 100%. That's why it's "annoying" and not "making me rip off my own hands to turn in."

Just found an area of land that I could start at one spot and work in a circle and by the time I got back to where I started, they had started respawning. Repeat ad nauseum.

Now, the Gathering the Reagents quest was excruciating but I'm a glutton for punishment.

I'm taking a break from questing to get the 6 repeats of the Wintersaber meat quest out of the way now.

    I'm crazy.

I 4-5x box. I really like running with 4xShamans in BGs (and arena with healer), but I also enjoy doing instances with a buddy. 4xShamans in an instance are great because just about any class coming along is helpful. I do like the social aspect of running an instance with a partner.

I have the Prot Pally + 4xShaman setup as well, but I just never have gotten into it. I don't need a ton of badge gear, so it's never been something I've poured much time and energy into.

My most recent team (now L68) is a Priest+4xHunter setup. It's been a lot of fun for leveling, but leveling is mostly a solo endeavor anyhow. I can see the priest getting minimal playtime once they're all L70, however. It's nice to be able to run with just 4 DPS in BGs, and I'm not going to be doing any solo 5v5 arena by controlling everyone.

Preference-wise, I enjoy 4x more, but I have to admit that it's nice to be able to field a full team from time to time.

The 150 nagas was one of the easier collection quests I did. You could clear out 30 naga in 10 minutes if you were working quickly. Under an hour, and do it along with other naga killing quests.
