Also as a general looting question, the discussion on master looter made me wonder if it is possible to run in this mode and allocate quest items to slaves, or do they not turn up as allocatable?

I don't know, I never used Master Loot. I'll try it out. I was under the impression that it worked the way you described from my reading.
