Sounds evil. How does pet control work right now anyway? We can't order pets to attack right? They just attack when the owner attacks?
I played EQ from early Beta 2 up until DaoC came along, and then went back after couple of years of DaoC until WoW hit the scenes. I played mostly solo enchanter, and then 2-box with a shaman. Starting over now, I am only slightly better than a complete noob.
What web references are you using, to find out quests, items, etc? I have found it pretty difficult to find information that is relevant to the "1999"-ness of the progression server.
Also, what are you doing for armor and weapons for your toons?
Korruptor, we have similar teams. I'm only going for five though. I have shaman, enchanter, cleric, shadowknight, magician (dark elves all, except for the troll shaman). I also had a necromancer, but swapped him out for the magician.
Since you are playing almost the same team, do you have any good tips (setup, macros, quests, etc.)? Which toon are you driving from? At present I'm driving from my SK, but once I get to level to start pulling, I am thinking of driving from my enchanter, for pulling and CC.
Every class with permanent pets except for enchanter can order pets to /pet attack
I use http://everquest.allakhazam.com for everything. I don't have an easy answer for separating what is classic EQ as this progression server isn't a pure classic EQ.
My enchanter is my crafter and can make patchwork armor (leather) which my SK and Cleric are wearing. Ruined Wolf pelts make smaller armor for like Dark Elves, Ruined Bear Pelts make large armor for Trolls and Ogres. I kill every wolf I can find for hides, keep them all in your bank, sell them to others if your not going to craft (not a good idea).
Here is a very good guide on tailoring armor:

Patchwork recipes detailed:

Weapons, well I kill every skelly I see with a weapon because it's 100% chance to drop that weapon. I looted a halberd and converted it from a rusty halberd to a tarnished one which raised it's stats. Sharpening weapons is great for raising black smithing.
http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/ar...r=040100000000
To find the sharpening stones you will need to check some smithing supply vendors until you find them. They are 3cp for my enchanter. Take the stones and the rusty weapons to a forge and add one stone and one weapon. To open the forge right click it and then click experiment, in that window add the two items and combine. If you fail you get your weapon back and it's still rusty so just keep trying. You will burn through your stones. I kink it took me 25 stones for 7 weapons.
Everyone follows my SK currently and one day I will use my enchanter to calm a room but everyone will still be /following my SK so I don't drag them with the enchanter
SK's can FD pull too which is useful.
Macro's
Follow:
/pause 6,/target Xavier
/pause 1,/follow
/follow
/pet follow
I throw in the extra follow for good measure. The delay is in tenths of a second and is highly recommended with the lag in EQ. If you're not familiar with EQ macro's it can be confusing but the pause, even though it's in front, is executed after the action and spacing is critical. There can be no space between the , and the /
Assist
First enable auto attack on your alts via "/assist on" (at low levels this is a good thing but at the higher levels you won't want your caster's in melee)
Then the macro:
/pause 5,/target Xavier
/pause 5/assist
/pet attack
Nuke
/pause 15,/cast 1 (top most spell slot with a 1.5 sec pause for fizzle time)
/pause 50,/cast 1 (recast if it fizzled)
etc
It's totally permissible to macro a battery of attacks so go for it (more for alts). Start with a /stand, add the pauses and account for the fizzle delay so one click fires a spell with a pause just enough to account for the fizzle time and then another attempt to fire the spell etc, repeat and then have the caster /sit.
I added an enchanter just to keep the mana going faster and too allow for less sitting.
Tips, well, avoid social creatures. I'm not really doing any quests yet, just crafting and grinding. If the mob is yellow I send the mage pets in to soften the mob but and then run in with my SK and /taunt. Use your tank to pull with a bow or spell (not a snare).
I hope this helps!
Shoot me a tell if you're on Darkpaw: Xavier, Reinhart, Draxl, Quade, Tags...
I love the smell of electrocution in the morning!
Thanks for the solid info!
Also, do you run from a single installation of EQ or multiple?
I run from a single, and I noticed that my key binds are all shared among all five accounts. For instance, if I bind F10 to hotbar 2, slot 0, after I exit, all five of my accounts now have F10 bound to hotbar 2, slot 0. I can change them on the fly to be different while logged in, but the last account to log out saves the keybinds, and the next load, everyone gets those keybinds.
This means the keybinds are locally stored, but I looked among the .ini files and nothing stands out as containing keybinds, and looking through most if not all of them reveals no keybinds. Assumign they store them locally in a file in the EQ folder, then multiple installations should cure this issue and allow me to have differnt keys bound to the same slots on different toons/accounts.
I've changed it up and run my group by my cleric and replaced the SK with a Necro.
3 Mages, 1 Ench, 1 Necro, 1 Cleric
Very good damage and good synergy with the utility between classes.
Gate FTW!

Funny -- no tank class. I am guessing you are tanking using mage pets. Mage pets are crazy that's for sure.
I am holding with SK, enchanter, cleric, magician, shaman. It makes a very synergistic team. It would be nice to have 5/5 gate though. If you ever get on Vulak, the toon names are Kapok, Kintra, Kyala, Kyleana, Joxtor.
I'm using lower heals on cleric and shaman and they are doing double duty dps/heal. Shaman/cleric essentially act as a single healer when needed, with low cost 2x heals. Shaman and cleric provide buffs, especially from shaman. Shaman and chanter proivde fight-time control, buffs, debuffs (speed, slow, cc). Magician has great DD as well as amazing pet damage Everything dies so fast I don't use DoTs.
I went to Crushbone yesterday. My team was all level 14. Throne room was camped with a team of 15s and an 18 monk. Led by some mouthy punk, worried I was going to steal their camp. I just parked my team on the side and watched them. They had six for a while and even with six and a level 18, had a hard time with it. They went down to five, and both the Prophet and Emperor spawned same time. They pulled and wiped.
I took over the room and tore it up, with ease. Prophet and Emperor were red to me, but the DD output of my team is crazy. Debuffed with shaman and enchanter, and unloaded DDx4, throwing in the very few heals needed. Looted and got the chainmail vest. While looting, Lord Darish popped, and went down in a flash. Looted him for the dwarven axe. My SK is very happy now.
Camped out to log back in later. When I came back, same mouthy main guy camping throne room with a different set of people. They had five, all 15+. They were terribad. Crush was yellow to me and he had just his regular guards, no Prophet or anything else tough. They fought him in the tower section and wiped. I took over the room again and mopped up the floor. Crush dropped another chainmail vest. Cleric is now sporting it.
Next spawn of Crush was red, and he was accompanied by Ambassador Dvinn, also major red. I pulled them both into the throne room and unloaded, just when the throne room started to repop with oracles and emissaries. Tough.
Ambassador must have been level 19-20 because my DD spells were being resisted big time. Had to heal a lot this time, but Dvinn went down, and Crush, though red too, went down quickly after. No team deaths. Got another chainmail vest. As I was resting to recover, Darish popped again, this time white con, and went down in about 6 seconds of DD spells. He dropped the 2H dwarven axe this time. Nice.
I was going to do the screaming mace stuff, but the orc warlord seems to be a fairly rare spawn, I looked all over the castle island for a while killing his placeholders, but never spawned. I'll probably head back later.
