5 Shamans - Bad Idea?

I got 4 shaman, quite well geared though

28k hp, 3k SP unbuffed. 173 hit, 0 haste.

And i can pretty much 4 man all oldschool HC's.
Can't do ICC ones, occulus and toc.

Problem is, that i can gear up and then solo HC's. Which isn't quite usefull.

I would never go 5 shaman. Or go 4 shaman + tank or druid
or just stick to 4 shaman and let someone else tank = ezmode

Ps: no, i haven't in fact cleared all those instances with just me x 4, but i did do some with a fury warrior or a doomkin as fifth just for the daily. And i just had the shaman tank most stuff. Bosses die in 15-20 seconds of combat though.

No,i meant "you can clear". But on the other side "you cant clear" is correct too
Gun'drack, Drak'tharon, Occulos, Violett Hold are very doable. When i do farm emblem of triumph i go heroic gun'drack and Pit of Saron normal (normal ICC dungeons drops emblems too).
In every Boss-Fight i use all Earth-Elemental.
One of the problems is not to get aggro. All shaman are 55/16/0 specced.

Very surprised to hear this - I might yet bring my old 5xShaman team out of retirement and try this. Back when Wrath first came out, Heroics were totally beyond them (as were BC heroics pre-Wrath) for lack of a tank. Well, they were for my shamans anyway... lol.

Well, I'm assuming of course that the 5xShaman group running a Heroic actually had a reason to, short of 2xFrost emblems.

To me, 5xShaman for PvE would only be worth it if they could run a Heroic without massively over-gearing it.

So have some reasonably-geared all-Shaman teams knocked over Heroics sans tank?

I think I first heard of shaman's clearing heroics post-ToC, pre-ICC. Not sure if that gives you an idea of the level of outgearing needed for going w/o a tank.

And I think they're doing it for the challenge and frost emblems - not for the gear in the instance.

Yeah, see that'd sound more in line with what I found with my all-Shaman team back in BC days. Heroics only become even marginally reasonable when I'd substantially outgeared them, greatly mitigating the point of doing the Heroic in the first place.

I'll be interested to hear from some of these all-Shammy runners to clarify this point, Heroics over-geared or Heroics at normal-gearing.

I'm thinking here you meant to say "You can't clear a lot of heroics." Right?

Cause I would be extremely surprised to find any Heroic (Oculus aside *myabe*) that could be cleared without a dedicated Defense-capped, high-dodge/parry/avoidance/life tank.

I can clear every non ICC heroic with relative ease using 5 shammys and that includes TOC. The jousting was changed a few patches back where they hit a lot harder, but as long as you micro manage switching to a new mount, it's still very doable. The bosses are a joke in comparision to the jousting phase.

But yah, in order to do it, you pretty much need to outgear the daylights out of the instance - I'm over 3700 SP on all my guys.

One thing I hate about 5 shammys and dungeons means that you can't use the dungeon finder tool, which also means you can't do the daily heroic by queuing them as you have to have a tank in your party. I've been running 4 a time and slowly working on my perky pugs, but the not being able to queue them together is a serious discouragement. I got stuck with a tank in Azol'Nerub that didn't do anything the entire time. Rather than votekick him, I wanted the last laugh at doing a complete clear without his help.

Maybe you can clear some heroics with 5 shamans but is much easier with tank and in pvp 4 shamans is enough
