Click on the person's name, click view public profile, click User Lists, click Add to Ignore List, and then click the Yes button to confirm.

You can easily find this out by click on FAQ in the top right and searching for the word "ignore"

What issue are you having with polls?

that the faq says there is supposed to be button to create one at the bottom of the new thread UI and I don't see it on my page (firefox 3.0 if that matters)
