Rough crowd….
For me personally I went the HotKeyNet/HKN2 route as I use dual monitors, and the mouse broadcasting although not perfect, is adequate for my needs…the $19.99 was not even part of the decision.
I do tend to keep a distance from software that has continual enrollment fees; ie monthly ect unless it is something that I find necessary and/or cannot “live” without. Obviously paying 5-subscriptions is necessary if I want to interact with my friends.
I could go the private server route, but choose not too; and software that I do not understand makes me nervous, I can name one in particular that will get you banned.
HotKeyNet thus far has allowed me to do everything that “I” currently need; should my needs exceed the capabilities of said software I will look at alternatives. I enjoy the continual modification of the original script that HotKeyNet provided me with, to further enhance my gaming pleasure; this too is part of the multi-box immersion that I currently enjoy.
I have no idea if you can do this with the other pay per license software; this would be something I would need to investigate before making any such transition.
Now should the developer of HotKeyNet ask for payment; I would not hesitate to provide a fair compensation for the time and testing spent in development. Like others have said…an extra $20.00 is nothing…I run 5-box because I can, both financially and technologically. I didn’t need the Logitech G-13 gaming pad….I wanted it….How much it cost at the time was not a factor because I could afford it, and it enhanced my gaming pleasure.
