Bad for caster teams i guess :/
The most important question however is whether this is a change against multiboxers or not.
Safe to say, they're killing boxing in all types of pvp.
Just to be clear - I assume this is an error message you received while in Beta participating in wPvP, and not just a data mined message, correct?
Can no do wpvp warmode in beta so yes it's datminded out the api.
Look take it as u will am just giving you all a heads up. Blizzard already said how wpvp warmode is going to be as rewarding as normal bgs.... And ashran they removed follow because of boxing on beta.
Will be curious if the no follow string will apply to all pvp(arena).
This is sad, I was looking forward to gearing by grinding conquest points. I suppose there will be no PVP world quests on the PVE mode. Oh well, i wasn't a fan of ganking people.
ok but if its really only for the time you are in combat i dont see the big problem here even for casters, however you are commited to every fight as running away could become chaotic :D
will test in combat
ok found a friend that got beta

Thank you Ebony,
I believe you are correct. Keep bringing us anything you find so we can be better informed. I greatly appreciate it.
Ah, so the question is if you are "enganged in combat" while beeing in warmode :o Thanks for the info Ebony
a bit more testing
mods/guards as classed as "pvp", or though it does work even if your pvp talents are fired up (trinket) etc.
or though the new honer talent system is not in yet...

The only real complaint I'd have with that as PVE guy is getting accidentally flagged by running past an enemy outpost.
I'm wondering if this will be part of the Pre-Patch thats coming to PTR soon. I'm assuming all the PVP PVE shard changes won't be part of the Pre-Patch. We'll get to see soon!
Off Question do you guys multibox on PTR?
This kinda kills it for me. The change is pretty clearly directed at us as boxers and speaks to Blizzard's intent.
i opened a ticket and basically got told it was a waste of time that i should submit a forum ticket so the QA/DEV regarding boxing in bfa
Even tho i pretty much stopped multiboxing after MoP(came back in mid WoD to erase bgs for a bit on a 10-11 man team tho). I still occasonally lurk on these forums to check on WoW/updates/etc
Thankfully i stopped supporting this [redacted] company
all I have to say is:
blizzard cockroaches at their finest
first they removed follow, then the interact with pet and now this. RIP pvp multiboxing

/rant over
I'm pretty sure there's a better way to express your discontent. Can't really blame them for catering to the single player. Afterall, and as much as we boxers like to think we have huge numbers, it's the single player that keeps the game afloat.
I know multiboxers are and were a minority. Especially after that silent no follow in pvp patch. But thats the whole point. We are such a minority we are unnoticeable. The fact that blizzard kept and keeps going after us is hilarious. Harder than on the bots(i dont condone bots ya and blizz finally stepped their game up in wod on them.)Do you know how many people botted in Mop? It was literally the golden era for them from pve to pvp kickbots.reason why im saying this is that blizzard didnt do jack shit to the bots until another xpac and a half but removed follow from us, boxers. We, legit players were deemed more dangerous than the mass bots. Its literally happening in bfa all over again( new bots are being released but blizzard isnt going after them they are trying to fuck us).smh
You say that they keep going after multiboxers, but other than the removal of follow from battlegrounds, five years ago, what else have they been doing to us since then that was seen as negative?
On the contrary, Legion was perhaps the best expansion for any multiboxer who just lazily dabbled in gathering or completing gold missions in their Order Halls. Multiboxers could easily make tens of millions of gold, if not hundreds of millions for those who got into it right at the start of the expansion, and on top of that, those who made that gold turned right around and paid for their subscriptions with it.
This statement couldn't be further from the truth.
Blizzard was not only doing major banwaves every six months or so (from WoD through Legion), they've spent an incredible amount of money paying attorneys to sit in courts, halfway across the world from their US office, to fight lawsuits against bot makers. In addition to that, they even went as far as packing the executable file differently—something they've never done before—which did wonders for countering any major bots, and, for example, put a stop to HB and all related bots from their team for Blizzard games.
So, I find it incredibly difficult to believe that they're going harder on multiboxers than they are on those who are botting.
Finally, I'll ask that you cut the profanity and derogatory statements from your posts on this forum. Surely your thoughts and feelings can be conveyed in such a way that they do not require such language, as it's not only breaking the rules of this forum, but people generally don't like to read that on a public forum, and this isn't your personal blog.
follow in ashran was because of multiboxing (or though they did not say it they said we saw having follow was going to be a problem)
But really all they been aiming @ is pvp
Same thing with "WarMode" follow works but as soon as your in combat, then follow "dies"
The phasing is working though it does not phase you in the city, if in a party one does not have war-mode you can not see them.
you get 15% extra XP buff if in "warmode "
other than 'follow", anyway to coordinate movement? will broadcast click to move and interact with target work?
full melee kitty w/ vendor pets. hmm... i like that sound of that. UnknownsTM or anyone else, mind sharing how the vendor pet iwt works and which vendor pets can be used?
Thanks!
Sure, the concept isn't too hard at all.
Basically, a few pets, namely the Ethereal Soul Trader and Alterac Brew Pup are interactable. The trader acts as any other vendor and the Pup gives you a drink when you interact with it. It is worth noting that once you receive the drink from the Brew Pup, it will seize to be interactable until the drink has been removed from your inventory one way or the other. The way we got around this issue was to have full bags so you could not receive the drink, and the pet would thus remain interactable.
So, since we know that Interact With Target sort of counts as a keybound click, we can use it in combination to having Click-To-Move enabled to send your characters walking towards any interactable target. If we do this with the pet, which should most commonly be right next to the character that has it pulled out, your other characters essentially be moving towards where that character is, creating the sudo-follow effect.
How you would choose to set it up is dependent on how your team functions, but often people would set the pet as focus and have a mapped key that would make their character target their focus (i.e. the pet) and use IWT. Alternatively I suppose a /target macro might work as well, which would leave your focus free to used for anything else you might need it for.
I will however point out that it is no outside the realm of possibility that the pet-follow will be nerfed in the WPVP phasings/areas, just like it was in Ashran and BGs later on, so it really it is not something you should count on being there as a given.
Right, so one other thing in the last five years, and, as you point out, it was related to PvP.
We talked about this in Discord, but I'll just bring it up again for those who weren't there.
Blizzard could outright kill the follow command if you're in War Mode, but they didn't, and instead decided to dance around it. Why?
/discuss
They probably didn't kill it outright because many, many pre-mades make use of it to keep the group together when not actually engaged in PvP in areas where it still functions.
It is interesting they disabled follow in wpvp for warmode. Using ranged dps as long as it works when not in combat. I think we can still be effective and it shouldn't hinder playstyle too much.
If I'm in combat casting and I need to get closer to the mob or spin my team. An IWT combined with a movement a moment later to break it places me back into position.
If they do kill it outside of combat though will be a sad panda.
Has anyone tried this in Warfront / Island expeditions?
So we wont be able to get the 15% xp bonus if we place of self in warfronts?
I'm glad I stopped multiboxing. yet I purchased 6 BFA accounts, 2 months ago or so. Un-subbed from all accounts just to see what's going to happen, had this weird feeling. Maybe I just box 5 accounts for fun. Run some dungeons. That sucks!!!
eventho the changes i would just still box in wpvp specially with launch , dont forget at start horde and ally are totally split up in differant zones means you wont see eachother for the first few lvls anyway.
so i would take advantage of the EXP buff you get for flagging pvp and get those lvls
