I gots scammed outa 120K

Well some guy was selling Winged Guardian for 15K each and Im thinking it can't be a violation of the ToS to buy in game items with gold so I get 8 of them.

Next day I look up some posts about it and seems that although its not a violation of the ToS Blizzard dosn't support it and you can't get anything back if you get scammed (well maybe you can but Im not even going to try).

Well next day 2 of my mounts just disapper, and I am sure when I log in today they will all be gone as all the guy had to do was buy them with a CC and reverse the charges.

I did get some really nice SS last night though of 6 of them that I'v put up on my web site.

Well after 8 years of not getting ripped off someone finally got me.

Guess not buying from level one's is always a good idea lol.

Course I lost 50K in stuffs once by not getting my mail in 30 days ....

Oh well still have 100 darkmoon cards and 160K in gold.



Does anyone think the WG looks better then the vial of sands dragon (of course dragons are better looking but the flames on the WG in ultra are really special).

Its not against the ToS in the sence that Blizzard will ban you or do anything to you if you are the victim.

I'm confused. The item is BoP. How could you buy it from someone else?
The only way I could see this being legal (in terms of the EULA / ToS) is if the item was BoE and you sell it in the AH or in a trade window.

You get the code and enter the code in on Battle Net, kinda like you would enter the cata code when you buy cata.

You then get the item in the ingame mail.

And if they reverse the CC charge the item just vanish from your account.

Probably I should have looked all this up before I did the transactions but It just did not occur to me there would be a problem buying an item you see in game with in game gold.

Someone had purchased several codes for the mount on the blizzard store with either a bogus card, or later called up their CC issuer and asked to reverse the charge.

The OP had paid gold and the scam artist gave them codes to redeem the mount through Blizzard's site, probably in whispers. Once the charge-back went through, Blizzard pulls the mount from the account that redeemed the code because they never got paid.

It's against the ToS to pay for in game items with real money, as well as paying in game money for out of game products/services, unless provided by Blizzard, of course.

The repercussions aren't what makes something against the ToS, No matter how you word it, it's against the ToS, you said it yourself, you got scammed, GG move along, nothing to see here.

The ToS is pretty simple regarding this, as stated multiple times by blues in the recent past:

If an item can be used ingame, then you can sell it for gold. If an item can not be used ingame, then you can sell it for cash.

So a code for a mount that you have to activate ingame is allowed to be traded for gold (ie talk to npc, then submit code and get reward)
A code for a mount that you have to activate in your bnet account page, can not be traded for gold, only for rl money.

Spectral Tiger codes can be redeemed for boe in game mount now that you can sell.

Based on those blue posts, they consider it a TOS violation to sell RL items (such as a code which unlocks an in-game item) for in-game gold. They don't consider it a TOS violation on the buyer's end because they don't need to; if players followed the rules none would be available for purchase. And since the buyer takes the risk of getting burned (which seems to be happening very frequently) Blizzard probably figures that it is punishment enough, and that as more and more people get scammed the word will get around.
