I'm pretty new to boxing and haven't used any boxing related addons. I'm terrified to cross the automation line and getting banned. People talk about Jamba a lot on the forums and I'd like to give it a try.. It's totally legit right?
Are there any any clear lines not to cross? any addons to avoid?

Anything that allows you to circumvent the global cooldown will get you banned, ie delayed keypresses.
Anything that smart targets will get you banned, ie anything that automatically selects targets.
Anything that automates will get you banned, ie unattended play (doesn't require you at the keyboard pressing keys)
Rule of thumb: one keypress = one action in game.
Rule of thumb two: anything you do with a 3rd party external tool must be possible to do in-game with macros
Jamba is a WoW addon, not an external application, and perfectly legit.

Also worth noting anything developed using the in game macro/scripting system will not get you banned.
Also in case you didn't already know all accounts have to be under the same name or you will get banned.

Just because you did it, doesn't make it OK with the TOS. Account sharing is against TOS, so if you're reported (as multiboxers frequently are) and a GM looks into it, any account you're on could likely get banned. When someone threatened to report me when I first started, I 'reported' myself and talked to a GM. He stated basically "As long as all the accounts are all in your name and you're not using automated third party software, you're OK".Quote:

That's not entirely true. According to the exploitation policy, look and style changes are allowed, but changes that create an unfair advantage are not. Of course it doesn't specify what UI modifications are considered an unfair advantage, but that is probably developer's discretion.Quote:

Malicious UI Modifications
We definitely want people to create their own UIs utilizing custom menu configurations, graphics, and even sounds. Anything that can be coded to modify the style and the look of the UI is fair game, as long as the modifications are done to the sanctioned internal files of the game. However, anything done to the UI to gain any sort of an unfair advantage over other players is unacceptable.
If a player is found to have modified a UI so that they gain an unfair advantage in the game over others, he/she may:

- Be temporarily suspended from the game

Graphics files, and sound files are fair games. Changing files that are not sanctioned is "I believe" what they are speaking of here. ex: the wow.exe, dll's etc
There's the misconception that accounts merely have to be the same name; they also have to be exclusively used by a single person.
While the EULA says they must be the same name for transfering characters etc..
It also says you have to be the exclusive user of the account.
The only exception is if a minor child will be using the account, in which case they become the exclusive user, instead of the parent/guardian.
There's probably no way for a GM to distinguish between your child using their account on your IP and you doing the same.
Nonetheless, if the account is for your child, the EULA specifically has you agree to never use the account yourself for any reason.
So.. your account, your name. Your child's account, your name. Your spouse's account, your name.
Using either of the other two accounts is bannable, if you get caught; unlikely to happen with the same last name, but something you specifically agree to not do, every time the game is patched.
That's what most people think it means, but the policy is far more explicit in what is and isn't allowed and not without reason. From my experience (I'm an online gameplay programmer who specializes in preventing gameplay exploitation) I know that there is a large group of players who would like to use the files in the addons folder as a toolkit for grieving other players. This is why the exploitation policy explicitely allows style and look changes made by changing the sanctioned files, but disallows changes that create an unfair advantage.Quote:

I can post screenshots (not for a while because I'm at work and moving house thus have no net at home -_-' ) to back up my statements if you really want.
All I'm saying is: Account sharing = bad and bannable. Owning accounts that you started (and have proof of starting) that are under different names = Not much better, but less chance of ban if you can provide evidence/explain.

Never said I was account sharing.
I started up 3 new accounts under different names, for what reason I don't know, but after speaking to a GM he said it shouldn't be an issue as long as I was the only one playing
But hey! Go nuts, edit this post as well and lets all play Jump to Conclusions (go watch office space if you don't know that game)
