Automation fears

I'm pretty new to boxing and haven't used any boxing related addons. I'm terrified to cross the automation line and getting banned. People talk about Jamba a lot on the forums and I'd like to give it a try.. It's totally legit right?

Are there any any clear lines not to cross? any addons to avoid?

Anything that allows you to circumvent the global cooldown will get you banned, ie delayed keypresses.
Anything that smart targets will get you banned, ie anything that automatically selects targets.
Anything that automates will get you banned, ie unattended play (doesn't require you at the keyboard pressing keys)

Rule of thumb: one keypress = one action in game.
Rule of thumb two: anything you do with a 3rd party external tool must be possible to do in-game with macros

Jamba is a WoW addon, not an external application, and perfectly legit.

Also worth noting anything developed using the in game macro/scripting system will not get you banned.

Just because you did it, doesn't make it OK with the TOS. Account sharing is against TOS, so if you're reported (as multiboxers frequently are) and a GM looks into it, any account you're on could likely get banned. When someone threatened to report me when I first started, I 'reported' myself and talked to a GM. He stated basically "As long as all the accounts are all in your name and you're not using automated third party software, you're OK".

You really ought to know better than to suggest or provide reasons for violating the Terms of Service. Playing an account that you do not own is a severe infraction.

That's not entirely true. According to the exploitation policy, look and style changes are allowed, but changes that create an unfair advantage are not. Of course it doesn't specify what UI modifications are considered an unfair advantage, but that is probably developer's discretion.


Malicious UI Modifications
We definitely want people to create their own UIs utilizing custom menu configurations, graphics, and even sounds. Anything that can be coded to modify the style and the look of the UI is fair game, as long as the modifications are done to the sanctioned internal files of the game. However, anything done to the UI to gain any sort of an unfair advantage over other players is unacceptable.
If a player is found to have modified a UI so that they gain an unfair advantage in the game over others, he/she may:

• Be temporarily suspended from the game
• Have further action taken, up to and including account closure, based on the intent of the modification

Anything with in the Addons folder is considered fair game
Graphics files, and sound files are fair games. Changing files that are not sanctioned is "I believe" what they are speaking of here. ex: the wow.exe, dll's etc
