I don't seem to be able to edit a threads title. (Everytime I release a new Jamba, I like to update the threads title as a heads up that a new version is out.)
Is this a limitation of VB or can you configure it so I can edit a threads title?

Make sure you're trying to edit the original post (I'm sure you are), when you hit the edit button, it throws you to the simple editor, click the "Go Advanced" button, now you should be able to edit the thread title in the box above the WYSIWYG editor. If you don't see a box, make sure you're in the advanced editor and post a screenshot for me.
This is not related to the other question you were asking about. It's not a problem, because, well, it's working as intended, that's just how the board works.
So you're saying that you can view all the threads in a forum, BUT NOT THE SUBFORUM. and then go back out to the main forums index, and it still shows the indicator for new posts on that forum? Am I understanding correctly? If so, then yes, this is also...working as intended. It's showing you the indicator on the parent forum because you haven't read the threads in the subforum. This is how the 2 biggest (that I'm aware of) php forum systems work (Vbulletin, and phpBB).Quote:
However, if I then hit the Forums link at the top of every page to bring me back to the Main Forums section. Even if all threads are read in a subforum (the one I just visited) it still shows the indicator light for a new post. The only way to get that off is to visit the forums, where I find there are no new posts and I just needed to click on the subforum.
What other issues is this going to cause? It's not causing any issues for me, no one else is posting about issues? If you're running into problems, by all means, let me know. The best advice I have for you, is read the threads you want, then go back out to the forum index, scroll all the way down, and click Mark Forums Read. This will mark ALL forums read and reset ALL the new post icons.
Just to show you... There are 3 ways Vb handles thread / post read marking.
We use the Inactivity/Cookie Based method because it is has the least affect on server performance thus resulting in faster queries, less server load, and faster page loads. Just to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding each option, I tested each one, and each one acted the SAME when it came down to forum new post marking of threads and threads in sub forums.Quote:
Thread/Forum Read Marking Type
This option controls how threads and forums are marked as read.
- Inactivity/Cookie Based - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.
This option is how all versions of vBulletin before 3.5 functioned.- Database (no automatic forum marking) - this option uses the database to store thread and forum read times. This allows accurate read markers to be kept indefinitely. However, in order for a forum to be marked read when all threads are read, the user must view the list of threads for that forum.
This option is more space and processor intensive than inactivity-based marking.- Database (automatic forum marking) - this option is the same as a previous option, but forums are automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read.
This is the most usable option for end users, but most processor intensive.
So, I hope I've understood what you're explaining correctly, if I haven't, please let me know, and I hope I've explain well enough that this is all working as designed / intended. I can't fix what isn't broken and there is nothing that stands out as "this doesn't act like the normal forum software" when this is one of the 2 forum packages I would say are the industry standard.

Notice, how I can edit the title (of the post, not the thread) like you mention, but in the top right, the thread title remains the same. If you look in the thread, you will see the first post has the new title (really small at the top of the post), but the thread title has not changed.
ok, sorry it took me some time. I see whats going on now. By default Vb only allows the OP to edit a thread's title for X minutes after thread creation, and at a maximum of 9999999 minutes, there is no method to set this to unlimited. I went looking for a mod and the only ones are outdated, so I used the outdated hack as a guide and did my own, so if you can verify you're now able to edit thread topics, that would be awesome.
Been noticing something weird the past few days. Read a post in a sub-forum and if the thread is only 1 page, it does not show as read in the sub-forum list. If I read last post or page of and multi-page thread, it will update fine.
using Firefox and Panda anti-virus, thought Panda might be blocking a cookie request or something, but why would it work only on some threads.
Looks like the General Discussion forum is resorting itself by thread title instead of last post again, Started sometime last night/early this morning. I thought I hit the link by mistake at first, but it's still happening.
What happened to the ignore feature ? I can't seem to find how to ignore sam and it's making it hard to stick to my pledge to not fall for his troll baiting in my threads
bump - still waiting to hear about ignore and polls ?
Click on the person's name, click view public profile, click User Lists, click Add to Ignore List, and then click the Yes button to confirm.
You can easily find this out by click on FAQ in the top right and searching for the word "ignore"

What issue are you having with polls?
just wanted to say Hey svpernova09 check out the name you know who I am LOL. finally getting around to doing this the manual dual boxing is making me old!
Thanks for having fixed the poll btw - it now shows up in the UI
If others like me are having frustrations with the login status timing out, I have found a work-around.
Go to the portal, and click where it says "online users" at the bottom. Leave that window open, and continue browsing the forums in another tab.
The online user activity window auto-refreshes, and therefore you stay logged in.
This has solved a big headache for me, since I would constantly have to re-log in between writing PMs and forum posts before.
I really really hope the admin is not annoyed with me for posting this, obviously I'll delete on request.
Looking at the post above, IT gives me an idea.
Anyway you can add a Report to moderator button, since we all have differing schedules? I often see threads like this one, or for photographs, etc. Things that are against the sites TOS basicly.
Then as the admin signs on, they can simply see the report and take appropriate action.

F9thRet: that's exactly what the red triangle with exclamation mark button does
Doh! heck I had to go looking for it even after you said it. Thanks for pointing it out though.

Since I never really knew of this, Bloodcloud brought it to my attention today, but Subscribed forum listing in the User CP is now fixed.
All users should be able to have an avatar of 120px X 120px. File size should be ~19.5k
ISBoxer forum badges now automatically checking. You *must* set your LavishSoft Affiliate Site Key in your profile AND change the field directly below (LavishChecked) to "yes" (No quotes) for it to be checked. Script runs nightly.
Add 2 new (not on the toolbar yet) BBCodes for general use.

Added support for:
Tapatalk http://www.tapatalk.com/ (iPhone, Android, Nokia, Blackberry)
BerryBlab http://www.berryblab.com (BlackBerry Only)
These are mobile apps that make reading the forums much faster than waiting on your network to download all the graphics. I've used both and Berryblab is kinda slow, but much more stable than Tapatalk. The Tapatalk app for BlackBerry is crap right now, granted it's in beta, but it seems very unreliable. I only have an older BlackBerry to test this with. So unless someone is wanting to send me a Sprint Evo :), I'll have to rely on anyone interested to report any errors with Tapatalk.
WoW Character links should be pointing to battle.net instead of wowarmory.com Please report any issues.
