You do know there are 7 new zones and lich king only had 7, so I guess they could lump those 7 new zones in a continent off Azeroth and then you would get excited?

You know I got to thinking about this. Going back to the old stuff is pretty smart of blizzard. Look at a zone like the barrens. It's a HUGE zone and there's what maybe 10 people in it and 5 of them are me =p. By changing zone's like barrens they are basically cutting the fat so to speak. You don't need that huge zone for 10 people. So cut it in half and make the other half high lvl and now it's not just sitting there anymore.
Not entirely sure how they handle servers but I'm pretty sure BC and Wotlk are on there own servers. So basically they are running all that hardware for zones that really never get used.
What about Goblins not having a special engineering race buff. WTF is that gnomes have it and it would just make sense if the goblins had some sort of buff also. I was really hoping that one of the racials for goblins would be throwing a net like the guards in gadgetzen throw.
I think I read in a picture there is a special +15 skinning race buff they get. Talk about lame.
Skinning was worgen I thought? They can skin without a knife too!
Goblins get a ton of racials, and the one that guarantees that they get the best prices from vendors regardless of faction is worth more than any buff to engineering skill.
The nature of any converstaion is to allow multiple individuals to express their view points on any given subject. By making such statements in a forum whose purpose is to encourage discussion, you allow others to make positive or negative statements relating to your original suposition. Given that your original post didn't involve a mere communication of your feelings, but instead made claims to "they should call this expansion Recyclysm" and "I don't see how this is going to be a succeswsful expansion for WoW", you haven't simply invited others to share their feelings on the subject, but have instigated a duo of confrontational claims that engender others to refute them. Chief among those counter-arguments being "You haven't played it yet".
Now, indeed, no one can tell you how you should feel, but in begining a discussion on said feelings, you have opened yourself to comment and speculation that the exposure to the simtuli that evoked those feelings may not have been as up to standard as one would expect of someone to make said original claims.
Flying in the old world will be a pain in the ass with phasing. If it's anything like wotlk it could be a total pain in the ass to fly everywhere. The old world zones are not very big if your flying so I would expect phasing everywhere. It does seem like Recycleclysm. I bet every raid will be recycled again in the old world.
Blizz expressly said they aren't going to recycle all of the content. In fact, the said Onyxia was unique. From the trailer it looks like lots of geography is going to change.
I think people are missing how phasing will be used in this expansion. It's not a matter of them adding a new phase over the old zone. The old zone is gone. Phasing will be used for things like Shadow Vault in Icecrown, but instead of a flight point and a vendor, the coastline may change or more of a forrest will be on fire.
I think the reason they even brought it up was that they wanted to impress on people that they will get to watch the world around them be altered in meaningful ways by their actions. It less an issue of the technology they are using to do it and more about the power it provides to immersion and story. I get the feeling that they want the new Azeroth to be going through a cataclysm, not just being visited after one has happened. The entire expansion is from 4.0 till 5.0 is about the world changing around you.

nvm this is a useless argument. You're right, I'm wrong.
I'm just not excited about this xpansion. Seems cheap and tossed together from all angles.
In time, that could be what they do. They re-used Naxx for this expansion. If the idea behind the Onyxia and old-world revamps is that they wanted to refresh it and encourage people to enjoy it again, at some point they might refresh Molten Core. The entrance to one of the new raids in Cataclysm will be reached through BWL apparently.
But keep in mind that this expansion has seven new zones along with a re-vamp of the entire old world, which by itself is probably more work than the previous two expansions combined. The zone re-vamps don't just include new terrain, there are new quests and new gear from quests and dungeons. It looks as if there will be more raid zones, and possibly more 5-man dungeons (which is impressive if it happens, considering the level range is cut in half). They're planning sweeping changes for talents and high-end character progression, for PvP progression, and for guild progression.
I wonder if they'll re-vamp old raids with each expansion, though. The one after Cataclysm will probably lead to a level cap of 90 or 95. No one runs Molten Core for progression anymore, I could see it being turned into a 10/25 raid in the future.
I cant wait for the expansion but yea about the phasing yea its a pain in the butt :P other then that its going to be awsum just hope they get Shamans on the new Ally race that way i can go to Ally on all my toons with my guilds..
I just read they are bringing back nef and rag so thats two raids final bosses they are recycling. Add onyxia and the only one left is Cthun. I am sure they will recycle that too. Whats next? All the world bosses going to be lvl 87 now in the old world? This game is going on 6 years I think. Pretty soon they will have to stick a fork in it and call it done.
They reused Naxx because the initial requirements to enter it in Vanilla, and the level of difficulty it was tuned to, severely hampered the amount of people that actually saw the instance.
As for reusing Nef and Rags, I seriously doubt it's going to be a copy/paste of their previous selves. I would imagine that they're going to use some of the old abilities just as a tip of the hat to Vanilla-raiders, but they'll likely be completely new encounters. And reusing a single boss is far different from reusing an entire instance (no one complained when they reused Anub'arak from Azjol-Nerub in Trial of Champions).
They are reusing Nef and Rag like they reused Kael. Completely new instance, new abilities and likely new models. Rag is in Hyjal and I don't know about Nef. It's not reuse like Naxx was. It's new instances that happen to have new incarnations of an extremely powerful boss that played a role in the game before. Hell, they are also reusing Arthas since he's just a dude from WC3.
Not attacking you, just correcting some assumptions.

It is a useless argument. Just because you state something is your opinion doesn't mean people can't challenge your stated basis for it.
I contend that your belief that it is is cheap and tossed together because of the things I've seen. You're welcome to that opinion and I don't have any right to force you to change it, but I can share my opinion that you've not seen enough of the expansion to be able to make an informed decision.
Forums are for discussion and discussion can have multiple sides. I haven't seen anyone attack you, but I am sorry that you feel attacked.

From what I understand Rag will be at full power with several new abilities. Both Rag and Nef will be in new instances. I am pretty exciting about the changes I am glad they did not just add a new continent I missed having a reason to go back to the old world and BC.
I believe there are 7 new zones which is what Wrath had. I am pretty happy with the changes it is nearly exactly what I was hoping to hear myself. The only thing that could have been an OMG for me is player housing.
I never liked them reusing any of the bosses from prior instances/raids. I think its a cheap cop out on the designers. How many times must we kill the same guys over and over. They can say he is full power now or whatever. That doesn't change the fact we have been killing them for years. They need to create new bosses and quit reusing old ones. I like dragonbal z but this game is starting to feel like DBZ. Just like DBZ too many bosses coming back from the dead.
I am sure the new expansion will be cool but reusing boss after boss turns me off.
I can see your point. They are adding 3 old bosses I think and adding in a dozen more I am sure. To me the boss is just part of it I wonder what other element they will add into the fight. I know for the the Lich King they said that part of the floor will break away which sounds interesting. Some sort of Zeppelin to Flying Ship engagement from what I understand as well.
So hi everyone
I've seen that a lot of you complain about phasing.
Cause im from Switzerland I'm not that good in english, and the translationprograms didn't helped mee a lot.
It would be nice if someone could explain me that whole thing about this phasing??
<--- cant wait for cataclysm
This would explain phasing best. http://www.wowwiki.com/Phasing
Why Multiboxers do not like it is that when you phase your clones break follow. I love phasing as a player but hate it as a multiboxer. Really though it is a fairly minor inconvenience at least I think it is.
Once a week every week for months judging by how long it took to get my Stormrage Legs. :p
Personally, I don't really see the problem with reusing certain bosses, I rather enjoy it. These are bosses. The meanest of the mean, the oldest of evils. I LIKE the fact that they can't be put down like sick kittens in a burlap sack. For all intents and purposes, we've been completely ignoring our "homes" for the past 2 expansions. It's not terribly surprising that some of our old enemies might have been taking advantage of our absence.
That and Ony is tired of getting punked by level 80s who just want some pocket change. :D
Buff disappears when you enter an instance I believe. Cant say for sure, maybe just raid instances.
edit: now that I think about it, maybe it doesnt.
just checked wowhead and it doesnt work on targets over 63. =/
Lets all remember.... this is just announced. This is all subject to change. Lets not worry too much. People are hesitant to change, and thats ok.
I was disappointed at first, but once I saw all the panels, I'm pretty excited about the changes.
I don't know, I would rather have recycled old world stuff than more ToC mounts/vehicles, at least with the old world stuff I won't have my cast bars taken over and replaced with some stupid crap.
Ive been wanting the old world revamped for a long while. It feels very Final Fantasy like to me where they usually nuke the world half way through. The possible 'mentoring down' will be very nice. I am not a fan of the dumbing down of items/stats. Soon everything will just have a single number. "LOOK AT MY STAFF! ITS A 12 LOL!!!11!!!" Block/DEF/MP5 and Spell power were the stats my entire group revolved around. Now i'm just going to stack str/int and if the items don't have it, I can just tinker the stat on.
Path of the Titans looks to be the beginnings of alternate advancement, I think this is a good thing, im tired of just getting gold from quests once I hit 80. The icecrown 5man sounds very cool and I look forward to that.
Flying level 85's in noob zones though will prolly make me transfer off my pvp server. Its bad enough getting steamrolled by 80's farming mats.
Deathwing is going to be very cool, you can count on that it will have mounted combat. I would recommend you read the books if you haven't yet.
If there is actual world PvP then I may transfer to a PvP server. I've been on a PvE server since TBC (was on a PvP server in vanilla) because my friends got tired of being ganked. I loved always having that nervous feeling, though. The battles at Southshore were some of the most fun times I had.
Outlands was not that large and starting areas were limited. Regardless, they didn't like dealing with gankers when they were trying to quest. It's not like my friends are unique in their distaste for world PvP... it's shocking to note there are entire servers of people who feel the same way. However, I enjoy world PvP and may have to make a choice whether to stay carebear and remain with friends, or get more excitement and transfer.
Look there will still be some very hard decisions. Do I reforge this item with X str and Y sta or maybe I should go with more str and less sta (x+z str and y-z sta). Trust me there will be min/maxing still, it will just be a little bit easier. I'm sure people will test setups and come out with a combination of stats that will increase your ability to win a certain encounter. Like Boss A needs less sta and more dps and Boss B needs more mitigation and health stats, etc.
Every patch/expansion that comes out, all I ever hear about is anti-multiboxing FUD.
i.e. "Blizz is changing X, all mulitboxers will be screwed!!" "This new thing is coming, and no one will be able to multibox!" Yada yada yada.
