Anyone tried transferring money from Alliance -> Horde or Vice Versa on the same server?

The 15% neutral AH cut has been the same since classic. The only thing that's changed was the deposit when they upped the min/max durations (which doesn't matter, since you get that back 100% if the auction sells.)

I did Horde -> Alliance a few months before BC came out, and instead of taking the 15% cut I just bought a bunch of lava/fiery cores, righteous orbs, arcane crystals/arcanite, etc and resold them. I ended up making about 10% profit off it too. As someone stated, just list the item for the min duration with 1c buyout and have both characters standing at the AH to buy it out the second you list it.

Yup, dug around and found that there were no posted changes to the neutral AH fees.

I thought I recalled the AHs being released with the same fees, but the neutral being changed shortly afterward when they saw how people used it. Looks like my memory from over 4 years ago is a bit hazy. :P

As much as I would like to just list items and not take the cut I can farm my dailies on my horde team alot faster/easier then on my alliance team ATM. I have tons of cash on my horde side (10,000g+) with geared toons epic flyers etc, but I want to transfer the money from Horde -> Alliance to help jump start my alliance toons, even though they have about 8,000g between them but no real good gear yet.

Ive transferred 10k to horde, lost 1500 in ah fees.

I did this quite often on my old PVE server when I switched from alliance to horde. Also used to have alliance guys buy stuff off the AH (weapon/armor upgrades and mats) that were either unavailable on the horde AH or astronomically priced. Example: Bringer of Death staves were going for 450g on my horde AH, so I went and bought the 4 others I needed for 75g each on the alliance AH. What can I say, alliance was 3.2:1 outnumbering horde so they had a crapload of stuff on the AH for cheap.

If you have a good reputation on your server you can often find people willing to trade 1:1. The problem here is, that blizzard won't do ANYTHING to save you if the other party takes your money. I've done this a lot, but I've always done it with people I've trusted.

I use the neutral AH quite a bit. If one item is cheaper over there, I buy it on the other AH and transfer it through the AH. I usually put items for 1g (item is worth about 20-40g). You lose 15s, but really 15s? It puts the items if people sort by price farther down the list. Also, if you are here, you have multiple accounts, so you can just get all set up and post the item on one account and buy it within 5 secs on the other. You can use Booty Bay, Gad and Everlook (can't speak for Area 52 or anywhere in Northrend) so you don't have two toons standing next to each other (might draw attention). I have gotten jacked 1 time in the past 4 years, but I was being lazy away from home with only one computer and signed in to one account at a time. Was about 1 min between posting and trying to buy. I don't really have that much money to transfer or really big expensive items to trade, so the way I do it works for me. You can also get your money back by trading items that sell well on the other AH (horde specific item in alliance AH, etc).

Yeah, could be, the blue post I had seen said the blue's wouldn't get involved. It makes sense they'd act on it. But maybe it comes down to the GM you get.

Used to do this all the time when I rolled horde as my main was ally:

so you don't get sniped:
Get your horde and ally toons at different goblin auction houses so you can see if anyone is at them. Say Gadget and that one north of Orgrimar. If you're feeling paranoid put one in booty bay. So now you can see that noone else is there and you can't get sniped.

sell high worth enchanting mats for 1c because you don't pay a deposit and 15% of 1c is bugger all
