Quadcore is not the minimum.
I use a E6600 / 8gb RAM / 8800 GT / VISTA 64bit running 2 monitors. 19" and 22". 5 boxing.
I also have another computer and i would say the order of importance is: Ram, then cpu + vid.
Your Hard drive is also important as well.
To toss in two cents.
Quad-Core is not necessary, I have a 2.2GHz Athlon 64 X2 that rocks the boxin.
I use 4 GB of RAM (not x64 so I don't see all of it, I know I know, I multiboot to other non-Windows 64 bit OSes)
My vid card was a 7800GTX and is now ann HD 3870X2.
I run my WoW installs off of 2 different drives for performance.
I have no issues and can run through Org without losing any fellows.
Keyclone is AMAZING at managing my FPS (back windows are limited to 15-20) and my card handles the rest :-D
I have vista 64, 3lcd, two ati 3870's, intel q6600, 8gig ram, running 5 wow folders symlinked off a raptor drive. I have done everything possible to get fps out of this system. The two accounts that run on the same cpu affinity get much lower fps than the others. At this point I would advise you to go i7, lots of ram, hard drives in raid, and best video card you can buy. The only thing I can do to speed up my system is to run folders from multiple hard drives or use a raid. I am not happy with the fps I get. Everything is set to low for graphics. If you plan on 5 boxing make sure to get a great system. Wotlk killed me on fps. BC was smooth even in shat. Woltk needs more power.
I am shopping now to gut one of my older pc's so I can run 3 accounts on 1 pc and 2 on the other. That should give me smooth game play. Plus I can bump up the graphics detail. It really sucks playing on low with the smallest view distance.
