Best way to spam a Gnome Sequencer Macro?

Howdy,

I am relatively new to multiboxing in world of warcraft but i used isboxer for quite some time in other games.

I am wondering what is the most comfortable way to spam the main dps button for my team while playing.
At first i just had it bound to the regular 1 key on a keyboard but i was getting painful rather quickly. I switched now to mousewheel up since a few days but im curious if there is a still more comfortable way to spam this one macro. Still after a few hours of playing it gets pretty uncomfortable. Normal beings might say now: "Then stop playing and go outside you nerd!" and they are probably right with it.

I am aware that a GSE macro will never outperform a human effincy-wise but i want to use it for rather grindy tasks like running through dungeons in the leveling process.

One thing that came into my mind was a mouse with a free spinning mousewheel like i owned a couple years ago. Unfortunatly it broke back then. I can imagine this would ease up the process by alot. Does anyone here have expirience playing with it?

I also read something about autohotkey but from what i've found it is not allowed to use within the game even if you are not automating button presses while you are AFK to do whatever.

Another thing i was thinking about was converting mouse mouse movements into keypresses or maybe inputs given by a gamepad-sticks or joysticks or someting simular. I am not sure if it is possible or not and if its possible, if its allowed within wow but i am eager to hear your expiriences.

If this all fails or i've overseen some possibilities that might translate into a more ergonomical button mashing i am also happy to hear them.

You do have to abide by the 1 keypress = 1 action per game client rule of thumb. The only way you could increase it is to make the key trigger on both when the key is pressed and when it is released, essentially doubling your spam speed. Auto-firing/repeating keys is a no-no and can get you banned.

I honestly don't see how having to press 1 button once every second or so is straineous though.

Well some people are sitting in the office 10 hours a day, suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis and are not sub 20 anymore but still would like to enjoy video games on their freetime.

While it's unfortunate that some players may suffer from a disability and/or handicap similar to yours, it doesn't change the fact that auto-fire and/or automated key repeating (i.e. loops) are against the rules of the game you're playing. On this forum we do our best to "play by the rules," so we cannot assist you with automating your DPS rotation, and any such posts/threads will be removed.

Furthermore, I have not heard that AHK is an automatic ban in World of Warcraft, and unless you have some credible sources on that, then I'm going to say that that's untrue. AHK has been used by players to multibox in the past, and I've yet to hear about anyone being banned for solely using AHK, while abiding by the game's rules. That last part is important, because some of the functions available to AHK are capable of creating bot-like, automated behavior.

I do not have any sources of ingame bans because of AHK but i also did not think that someone would use it outside of an auto-fire script, thats why i noted that its most likely prohibited.

If someone had the impression i was asking for help to automate my dps rotation, i am sorry but that wasn't my intention at any given time. I was just looking for a more ergonomic way to mash a button or some tricks like binding the mashing button to the mousewheel for example.

The rule is one input equals one ingame action (if i am not mistaken). So pressing a button on the keyboard or turning the mousewheel to give a command are obviously valid inputs to trigger ingame actions but i dont see why translating mousemovements into keystrikes or twisting a gamepad stick and translating it into keystrikes shouldnt be a valid input method if it is even possible to do this inside of isboxer.

A free spinning mousewheel might be a gray area or even prohibited because you spin it once and it keeps sending inputs for idk, 30 seconds? But i always looked at it as a valid input method because, well, im the one that started spinning it?

AHK is like HKN, except it can do a lot more, so it just comes down to which tool you're more comfortable with (assuming you like scripting).

You're right, but the post I was replying to read (to me) sorta like "because I have X, I should be allowed to do Y." However, I just wanted to make the rules of this forum clear, since time and time again people have come here looking for that extra edge to add to their gameplay, and some of them have been okay with stepping over the boundaries.

Not exactly, since you can do more than one action in game with the same key, but it's normally what you hear repeated across various forums on the internet.

I would say that the wheel is designed to spin, and is therefore valid input. You have to keep moving your finger to spin it, because it will just stop on its own.

Consortium Key Sender is a tool made for WoW that is supposed to follow the guidelines. You could use it to have mouse movement send your macro key to WoW.

[edit] The "Listen to user input" option of CKS works with the scroll wheel as well as mouse movement.

I looked up the mentioned tool from sync00 and also searched for AHK scripts that can translate mouse movements into ingame keystrokes.
I found a thread from the creator of CKS which features an AHK script that basicly does exaclty what i want it to do. I will link the thread in this post if someone else is looking for it in the future but you should be aware that the post also has some advice that you should explain a gm what you are about to do and await his/her response before running the script.
