Shodokan's update #4

Well... i haven't done one of these in a while since i have not been playing much and finally got the angst to finish my team with the changes to paladins announced. I have shelved my shaman for now and won't be playing them at all till my dk/rets are geared to my liking.

I am really enjoying the dk/rets and actually enjoyed the last few levels. I streamed my dinging 80 live in two other forums (mmo-champion and d2jsp)

I have broken the 500k gold mark in total gold aquired (in about 3 months) all but 50k has been spent on various things... mounts...friends mounts...boes...buying 10 man togc wolf for a friend who helped me more than i could ever repay him for...and other things.

I'm paid up until november on all 5 accounts so no worries about investing any more money into it.

I just bought a razer naga and will be getting it tomorrow. Unfortunately the next week and a half of school is going to SUCK... i have two 10 page papers and a 5 page paper to write among other group project requirements.

To those curious about the gem market on my server after having so many gems and alchemist crap going into the market. It greatly effected it...they dropped over 40g and i've actually had a few people call me out about it.

My current plan right now is to gear 2x paladins at a time then finish up some odds and ends on my DK's tank set and then use them as a group to get the pvp gear :)

Questions/comments/suggestions LMK.

Well, take care of the school stuff first, as that will be with you forever. The boxing is fun, but its definitely secondary.

Part of the gem thing, is the cyclical nature. It goes up with new content or a new arena season, and then gradually falls as most people get their upgrades. With the release of Cataclysm a ton of people will be gearing up again, so the prices should rise. Not sure if there will be epic gems immediately, or if the gold will be made on elemental transmutes such as Earth to Water or what not.

500k in gearing toons and other expenses is quite a bit, but as long as you have your nest egg for the start of Cataclysm, you'll be able to level the alchemy fairly fast, which will let you experience the high selling points of the expansion... release, 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 along with their respective arena seasons.

The DK and Ret team, its got a lot going for it.
And from what we've heard, it will retain most of the good features in Cataclysm too.

It retains all but 1 feature and gains another 6-7... its going to OWN.

I think ret pallies are getting screwed - BIG time. They said they are going to lower defenses and healing for rets, they get no significant new abilities besides the winged creature 3 min cooldown.

• Divine shield is being nerfed
• Divine Storm is going to do less damage "Divine Storm will get the Whirlwind treatment (less damage per target but unlimited targets)."
• Cleanse is nurfed
• "In general, we don't want buttons that are good against single targets to just be better against groups of targets. It makes rotations too static and makes numbers hard to balance since "cleavey" specs can do so much more damage against tight packs of enemies. Some higher damage is fine. It just too extreme right now."
• they said they feel the need for pallies to take more chances - which means they are going to lower defense.
• 'We feel Retribution paladins need one more mechanic which involves some risk of the player pushing the wrong button, making the rotation a bit less forgiving."
• " Furthermore, the healing environment of Cataclysm is going to be different such that a paladin may not be able to fully heal themselves during the duration of Divine Shield"

I think DKs are getting some nice buffs though.

The damage wirlwind does on a single target is still pretty decent, so its not like "zomg nerfbat!". Divine shield gets reduced by 4 seconds... cool that really doesn't matter much for how i've seen boxers use it. Lower defence means take more chances how? We don't use an actual rotation while boxing anyway so that doesn't really matter (as far as their priority rotation pve wise)

I guess my point was, having a 80 DK + 4 ret team myself, is that I'm not really excited about it, aside from the DK changes. It seems like an overall loss.

How did you set it up so that you don't use deathgrip x4 at once =p? (with out using 4 diff keys)
I need to set up something on my pallys so they don't all stun the same targets Ive seen some posts Ualaa made but I didnt get it to work that well.

These teams are 1x DK and 4x Ret, so there is only a single Death Grip.

However, you could set up Death Grip as a round-robin, if you have multiple DK's in your group.
Either go with a boxing software round-robin, where the key is only sent to one window at a time, in a sequential order.
Or go with a warcraft macro like this:
a) /castsequence reset=combat/20 Death Grip,,,,
b) /castsequence reset=combat/20 ,,Death Grip,,
c) /castsequence reset=combat/20 ,,,,Death Grip

ah im a doof, thought he had the 1 pally 4 dk set up.
ill give that a try.
I am doing 1 prot / 4 ret so was more interested in using repentance or hammer of justice on diff targets or not all at once.
tryd to do

toon 1 -
/targetenemy hammer

toon 2 -
/targetenemy
/targetenemy hammer

(ect ect, each char having 1 more 'targetenemy' but they seemed to not switch from current target (like [TAB] would)

/targetenemyplayer - only hits player targets.
/targetenemey - will hit pets too.

If you do arena, you can target via arena frames.
I believe.
/cast [target=arena 1]
