Theorycrafting chat?

This is a bizarre request, even from my perspective. I've greatly admired multi-boxing since I first saw Bradster's vids a long time back. I don't have the time to devote to WoW anymore, but I have a hypothetical ideas multiboxing ideas I'd love to discuss with one or more persons. For example, leveling 4 warlocks and a priest, why chose affliction or destro? Destro would be much stronger with 4 imps leveling outside, whereas affliction would be stronger if instance-leveling. Basically, as corny as it sounds, talking about gives me the some of the satisfaction of playing w/o playing. I also have a lot of questions about RAF + multiboxing. it's been an update or two since I played my warlocks.
all I remember about destructo was being out of mana and life drain didn't heal me nearly as much as it does an afliction lock.
that was a few releases ago ( back when 70 was the max )

I wasn't impressed with my 4xwarlock-priest team that I used RAF to level up ( level 80 was the max) . They were fun until I got to the outlands.
They couldn't take down the outside elite in the pool of aggonar in hellfire at level 60, one group heal from the priest and she had aggro.
compare that with my 5x pally team that did all of the hellfire dungeons at 60-61 ( leveled up inside of the instances ) and that elite was nothing to them.

I find warlocks can top the DPS charts but they have to work at it and use massive AOE such as seed of corruption or any long boss fight with lots of DOTs.
one warlock with 3 shaman, the shaman spells cast faster than anything the warlock has except instant cast DOTs.
for outside trash, the 3 shaman will kill before the warlock can cast his first spell or his first DOT ticks for more than once.

I liked my 4x hunter / shaman team. They did better in dungeons, maybe I just wasn't playing my warlocks well or maybe I should have tried demo spec on the warlocks. 4x and 5x felguards just look impressive.

I have 4 locks and a priest and love them. I went in demo to get felguard and working my way down affliction to get more DOT dps. I use (for super easy and lower), 2 succ, 2 imp, (for slightly later and medium hard), 1 void, 1 felhunter, 1 imp and 1 succ all with improved talents, (for really hard) I use 2 voids (those chars have more stam), 1 felhunter and 1 imp until level 50 or so. Then I use 3 felguards and 1 felhunter. After I got felguards, I have only use voids once (I was lvl 61 or so and the outside elite in Hellfire Penn. scared me. I might have made it with just felguards, but I wasn't sure and didn't want to wipe and try it again.

2 of my chars are heavy stam (eagle, whale, whatever I could get that had good stam and something else), and the rest have mostly owl gear. Later (Outland and above), I moved the felguard locks into stam type of gear and the priest and felhunter chars into mostly spirit. I haven't had any problems with almost anything. Yeah, I have to lifetap with mana feed talent once a fight, but have no downtime because of it (felguards holy hell drink mana). I wish the pets were as strong as hunter pets, but I can heal them like super crazy (healing talent also gives 30% protection to pet). I don't PVP with them, cause the pets would never get the people's enough aggro to keep melee off me. Also the felhunter no longer helps with stealthers. All wearing cloth and I would be taken out by one whirlwind bezerker (non-fearable) warrior.

I guess I should clarify, I was mainly referring with getting to 60, after 60 I can see how there would be a lot more difficulty with Warlocks and Priest. And also trying to get at least of every class to 60 and mixing and matching from there.

1 Paladin 4x Shaman looks like the best team to start with for RAF because you'll have a high level Pally for boosting. If the accounts are linked A>B>C>D>E, can the Pally boost from accounts A or E? That's something unclear in the FAQ.

I'm not saying Warlocks are the best choice for a 5man, I was noting that Affliction seems way too slow for single target, non-Elite stuff for questing via the RAF guide posted on these forums for leveling to 60. I noted Destro because 4xShadow Bolt plus 4x Imp Firebolt should down any mob at your level, costs 23% of base mana and you should only need to cast it once, versus casting both Corruption and Curse of Agony which is a combined 33% of base mana and takes longer to kill the target. For instance leveling, I have to go with Affliction.

Eventually moving the Warlocks to 4xFelguards would seem quite powerful, but may be unable to really clear Outlands and later dungeons easily.

With RAF, if you grant a toon 2 levels, can that toon in turn grant 1 level to it's referring account?

Do you need 4xHunter + healer or can you do 5xHunter to 60?

I was also thinking about something like 1Hunter, since they can most easily solo their way to 60, using the RAF guide, and having 1xRogue, 1xWarrior, 1xDruid, 1xMage just on follow so you can have level 60 of all the classes. Eventually boosting them would be ideal, but a geared level 80 Pally still takes some time.

I also read that while under RAF XP bonus, you do not use your rested XP, and therefore it's saved until you hit 60?

4xHunter plus 1xShaman? That seems interesting. Shaman can AoE heal enough?

5xShadow Priests also looks interesting, obviously once you hit 40 because they are very mana efficient using just Mind Blast and Mind Flay to down outside mobs using the guide. Up until 40, smite/holy fire/wand should do the job.

5x Pally? Were they all Ret or a mix of Ret and Prot?

Any other experiences?

I like my 5x pallys, I was originally 5x ret and the main would die once in a while. I've been doing as many dungeons as possible.
I since have switched my main to be prot and he dies a lot less.
I would have thought I would loose a lot of DPS on him but sometimes he's at the top of the DPS chart if enough mobs are beating on him ( ret aura ).

I just flipped 71.
I've done most of the dungens below leve 70, I've done Shadow labs at 69, magisters terrace at 70.
I never quite got the last boss down in UK @70 ( very close a few times) but that's because they nerfed you being able to drink or eat inbetween fights and I forgot I even have lay of hands...
I guess if I get some health pots and now at 71 I have divine plea I'll try it again I'm i'm going to have a lay of hands macro ready to fire.... he's going down soon.

I did 4 warlocks 1 priest all the way up to 70. I was able to complete every instance I put my mind to.

For that demon elite in the pool of aggonar in hellfire I had to get some help :S Had I waited another level or two I'm sure I could have done it, but I wanted the trinket!

My warlocks were all specced demonology (51 points down) and I'd run with 1 imp and 3 felguards. I'd go into demon form and use immolation aura when things got hairy. It was pretty fun!

Your account with the boosting character can not be directly linked to any of the accounts with the characters getting boosted.

Completely from scratch(brand new server, no gold, no help), which 5man team is the best to start with? Also from scratch with said group, which method is best to get to 60 using RAF, the guide posted on these forums or instancing?

I was thinking the classes that need the least gear would do very well from scratch. The speed runners always seem to use Hunters on new servers, but I was also thinking that Shaman get such nice spell power buffs from their own skills and talents that 5xShaman could also cruise to 60 pretty easily, especially using the guide since it's all outside and 5xDD Spells should drop most mobs pretty easily.

Once you hit Outlands and beyond, instancing >> questing outdoors to leveling the team?



From a Theory Crafting standpoint leveing to 60 without any help, what specs are desired? My newbie thoughts:

Druid: seems like Balance would be awesome, since melee seems to pose extra challenges.

Hunter: beast mastery seems like a no brainer.

Mage: Frost looks quite appealing since it's very mana effecient and you get a part time pet, although arcane could be good with all the clearcasting procs from arcane missles.

Paladin: Retribution. All the self-healing just seems unfair.

Priest: Shadow tree, mind flay is very mana effecient, i wouldn't even bother with SW:P, just Mind Blast and Mind Flay with the mana reduction talents, once Shadow Form hits, things should just speed up.

Rogue: ???

Shaman: Elemental. Can't imagine anything being better.

Warlock: If outside questing, Destro with shadowbolts and imps firing should down things in 1 round of casting. I know Affliction looks appealing, but it's slow and takes a good amount of mana to kill things anyway, why not just nuke? If instancing, Affliction then switch to Demonology for Felguard?
