Heh, few monts back rolled over this site after already multiboxing a war up with healer on follow (this is back in the i could hack the crap outta whispercast to get fears / heals etc etc combine with auto shout out on my main... lol well they nurfed all of that >.< anyway with only 2 accounts and wanting to try 5box'n.... rolled a pally / priest on my two and found 3 irl friends to lvl 3 mages on....
since i was 'borrowing' the other accounts to multibox with i kept a low profile, that is untill i was 70 for a bit and got rather bored... after two nights of ganking, some horde reported me and i got a nasty gram from blizz saying they detected account sharing... reset all 5 accounts pswds with a temp pswd and a cease and desist letter...
so basicly point being if you ever want to do anything in 'public' (and even if you roll a pve team u know ya eventaully will) do it legit! lol at least blizz gave warning emails and my buds walked away with a 70 mage on each of their accounts :D
now i just gotta convince my wife to let me get 2-3 more accounts so i can lvl up a shammy team /drool lol after boxing 3 classes at once it should be somewhat less of a mindjob

This is a new and intriguing topic.
Is it the name on the account or Card info?
I currently pay for the 2 accounts under my name and the account in my gfs name as she doesnt play anymore.
just looking for clarification. currently at 20 so restarting one of my shamans isnt a big deal just yet.

It is the account name.
Card name doesn't matter because they won't stop people from offering to pay for people's accounts, eg parent paying for non-minor child to play, etc.
You will need to get a new account and stop using your gf's...EB is currently doing a good deal on the battlechest if you are close to one, otherwise JB should also have them for a reasonable price.
meh, ill just get a trial free month for one of the accounts and upgrade it online. Only works out to be about $5 extra and i get a free month.
Thanks for the reply :)

PS: Trials are good for 10 days only.

Circuit city also has a decent deal on the battle chest - 30 bucks... now to just get my wife to not flinch when i wanna get three ;)
and another question... i assume two accounts with the same last name / address / cc etc are ok.... (my second account atm is under her name she hasn't played in eh over a year though) cause i'm gonna be slightly po'd if to be kosher... i have to buy ANOTHER account... then move all the toons off of her account to it (i know for a fact i can bounce toons back and forth between the accounts so it seems stupid that i need to jump through those hoops....
hell i guess i can just play the minor card and say i'm my son using my parents accounts :D

Blizzard recognizes the wife and husband as seperate people no matter what your state law is about being married and communal property. The only allow one minor and parent/guardian to share accounts not spouses.

move all the toons off of her account to it
be careful in this. If you where able to do this, lucky for you. I believe that Blizzard can band the account (or both) for doing this, that or they just might not do it. On the support page for transferring toons it says that both accounts must be in your name. So i would just be careful. I had 1 toon on my wife's account (only lvl 10, but had good bags on that toon). I didn't transfer that toon because i was afraid of what Blizzard might do so i just left him there. Sold all his stuff and gave it to my other toons.
so.... is it legal to have like 3 accounts on the same name?

You can have as many accounts as you can afford

ahh i'm not sure how true that is.... or maybe i'm just 'really lucky' but i have moved my main priest 3 times back and forth between accounts and once between accounts / servers even had to call them up because did the across server move to the WRONG server (don't do stuff that has a 6 month cooldown at 3am) and no one ever gave me grief about it... again i guess i could just be rather lucky but I don't think thats the case - obviously blizzard coded that the LAST name has to match not the FULL name... thats why multiboxing in the same house without the same FULL name seems stupid esp cause they can't prove if its a minor or not....... >.< ((just po'd at the concept that i'm going to have to either A. get a 6th account untill my wifes account expires... or B. (more likely) lvl my new shammys on her account and them move them ALL over when her time runs out to a new 5th account.... its all just stupid >.<
Hey all,
Me and my brother multibox both on same acc. he owns 2 and me 2.

Well, as long as you're not playing an account you don't own, that's fine. Understand that a GM might not be able to tell the difference if you're not careful about what you're doing. Bottom line is if either of you play on the other's account, you're breaking rules.

The thing is if you single box (solo), the chances that you get caught is slim to none. You probably have to tell everyone in the trade channel that you are using someone's account and probably have to report yourself. The reason is that 1 toon does not draw attention to itself. I AM NOT saying that if you solo then account share all you want, just saying that you probably will not get caught. Blizzard doesn't look at everyone. They only look at stuff that do not look right or things that people report. Now then they see/hear that 1 toon is walking and 4 other toons are following them, they will look into it. If a lot of people complain about it they will take a look at the account names. If the account names do not match up, all the toons are doing the same thing, and coming from the same ip address, blizzard will band those accounts for account sharing.
oke that sux. just bought our 4rth account like 1 month ago :P and we named it under my brothers name. is there anyway i can change that info? of tjhat acc. or can i just trow it away??
what a waste of money if thats tru
but he lives in the same home so we always have the same ip.. stupid rulez..

Sort of same thing happen to me. I wanted to get the wife (at the time gf) in wow. I thought it would be cute to put everything in her name. Well she ever got into the game, and when i was going to multi box i was going to use her account. Read a post on this site and was like WTF i have to buy another account because i cannot use her account.
You might be able to get the account in your name. You will have to call blizzard up and explain what happen. Hopefully you don't have any high lvl toons on that account.

stupid rulez.
It's a double edge sword. Yes it makes changing your account a pain even if it was a mistake or same family member, but on the positive side it makes it harder for hackers to truly seal your account. You hear a lot about the bad for the TOU, but you ever really hear someone say thank god for TOU if not for that my account would be totally gone. Sort of like when something wrong happens it is "Why me god", but when something good happens "It is about time" (or something like that). Not "thank you god". I am not a big time holly person, but i heard that somewhere and it makes sense.
Note: If anyone doesn't like the god statement, let me know and I will remove it
Yes Drizzit,
im lucky that i dont have high lvls indeed but with me money is a prob.. :P kinda feel sad that i spended €30 for 1 account wich i can ditch now.. i already tryd to call wow but therse something wrong with helpdesk. cant get anyone on phone.
i will have to buy 2 more acc then. :'(
yea i know what u mean got hacked twice.. not saying its bad. but im just sad it that way :P i realy wana go crack some instances down :P

If you do get 2 more accounts, do not forget to refer yourself. You will get 2 free months doing that way. So if you think about it you will only be paying for the expansion pack (the original now cost about the same a monthly charge). My 4 refers just kicked in this month. So my main account now gets 4 free months of play. Bad part was the wife opened up the cc bill this month and saw the 4 charges of (79.99 i think, for the 6 months, which saves me $2 a month per account). I was like ahhhh well the 79.99 is for the 6 months, she jumped in saying well why is it there 4 times and i was like they must have charged me 4 times. I then said i'll call them on Monday (It was sat morning and told her they where closed). Hoping that she will forget, but i think she still remembers. I will tell her that i got the credit, but i got to make sure i get the bill this time. If i wasn't so lazy and i payed my bills that would have never happen... lol i'm so going to hell, but at least it is warm there.
lol thats bummer :P
what should i say to blizzard that they will change the name ect ect.. they can see that its created like 1 month ago.
and yes thnx about the tip of Refer.. think my bro forgot to do that with this acc :( :P

Man, all this ban talk is making me feel like I felt when I started boxing... like a cheater!! and I know I'm in the right. Dam ,I hate dealing with any customer service people."hold while I transfer you" But I'll have to do it so I'm not looking over my shoulder while boxing. :cursing:

I talked to blizzard only once so far (you only can create 3 accounts within a time peroid, the forth gives you problems to create, you can either wait a couple of days or have blizzard create the account for you, which i did). The wait time did suck, passed the time by doing some bg. So about 20 minutes of waiting i got someone and guess what... she spoke perfect ENGLISH, i was like "oh my god, you speak english", she laughed, but anyways she was very helpful, she answered all my questions and i told her next time that i call back i want her.

ahh i'm not sure how true that is....
How "not sure" can you be?
Blizzard says: You can only transfer characters between accounts that YOU own (and by ownership, they define it as by having YOUR NAME in the account).
You say: I know that the automated process only checks for last names. I am going to transfer from an account which is NOT mine, to my account.
Are you not breaking the rules?
What are the consequences of breaking the rules?
Seriously, people. Just because "I don't get caught" doesn't mean it's not a bannable offense. It only takes ONE person to report you -- and here you all are, spewing all of this information on a PUBLIC forum. The moment people figure out who your characters are, all they have to do is say "oh, they admitted to xfering a character that wasn't theirs onto their account... I'll just send in a GM ticket..."
And then will you be "not sure" that you're actually going to get banned?
