Account Closure / Suspension - GM Error?

Ok so here's the dealio...

I was playin last night and was trying out underbog, so i'm going along and doin my thing, and everything get ice blocked, and i'm like wtf, this is a wierd glitch...so i look at the chat window and i've been messaged on my alts by GMs, and i'm like oh crap...

So, there were two of them, Mimic and Prototype, and they start off by saying "are you going to stop ignoring us now?" So right there i knew this wasen't going to be good, so i apoligize and explain to them that my alt windows are a little smaller and i dont really pay much attention to them unless i need to move them or something...And they ask what i was doing and i said, running underbog...They then say, it looks like i'm botting, so i start the explination of multiboxing...

The whole experience was quite diffreent than any other i've ever had, they were very unprofessional, so Mimic was telling me that he knows botting when he sees it, and i explain it's all legal and i pointed them to this website to check it out so they would know about things in the future...So they then say this type of play is not allowed and i was like, yes it is and i tell them about the wiki and all the GM conversations we have documented...Prototype was pretty cool, he seemed kinda interested, but Mimic was not going for it...So Mimic says to me i am going to get a 3 day ban while they investigate, and i started getting pissed then, and i may have said a few things i didn't need too...Like "research something before you assume it's illegal and you know what happens when you assume?"

So anyways the conversation goes on and i took off the pause button for keyclone and my alts start jumping while i'm typing, and then Mimic says, if they jump one more time i'll make it a 30 day ban, and i started typing "they jump when i hit the space bar when typing" and he's like, that's it 30 day ban...then i say "SOLO IS THE NEW GIMP!" and then BOOM! i'm logged out, i didn't even take any screenshots or anything...(ya i really said that shit lol)

So i went to bed, pissed as ever, i'm thinking this is it, i'm done playing wow...But i couldn't leave it alone, i know a GM from a while back, well we have talked in the past about wow and stuff, he is really cool, so i email him and ask if this is legit...

I got a email this morning saying that multiboxing was allowed and they apoligize for any inconvience and these two GMs will be taught about multiboxing so this dosen't happen in the future...

So all in all i got banned, then talked to a bud, unbanned and a apoligy... Just a wierd experience all together...

Oh and i didn't know banning happened that fast, it's like one second you are talkin to them and then the next you can't log in...But it turned out ok in the end. Just wanted to share.

I'd like to know what they were doing stalking you in the first place...especially 2 different GMs, following you into an instance no less...and jesus christ Mimic should be fired for that shit, you don't ban people for fucking jumping or else the entire night elf population and half the blood elf population would be banned permanently lol(myself included rofl)

Lol who the hell wouldn't have space as jump? It's default and standard in just about if not every single PC game there is to boot. It's big and easy to hit, hard to miss, which is good since jumping is helpful in most of said games. Hit your GM friend for me ;p lol

Being a GM ain't easy but it's not too awful hard to keep your "lives" seperate...I was an Elder GM for Endless Ages for a couple years back when they went gold/pay to play, played on my normal char as well without the two ever being connected or interacting...though I am sad I missed all my awesome Boss-Spawn events I held =( No killing giant Frubes or Death Droids outside town for me lol; but yea :p That "lootwhore GM" bit reminded me of the good ol' days lol

I dunno about the prntscreen bit...when I leave keyclone unpaused every window BUT my main takes the screenshot, which kinda ruins things when their cameras are random but my main's is the only one in the right position...which is why my screenshot here ('http://home.comcast.net/~gotnks2/WoW/21vsBaln.jpg') was taken from an Alt's point of view instead of main's...I just lucked out on his camera being in a good spot lol

It might be true about the 30 day ban not being there... but then again, the GMs could've said it not knowing... seeing how knowledgeable they were in the first place.

A normal toon wouldn't be able to disconnect you... and I'm sure that when he tried to log back in, got the message that the account has been closed or something similar to that.

That's a tough story. I'm glad you got out of it without any bans.
But I have one general question:

Am I, as an ingame player, required to read the chat ?

After all, you can turn it off by simply switching to the combat log instead. Is it stated somewhere in the EULA that customers have to read what other people write ingame?
Seriously, what if I decide to turn it off, because I don't feel like reading 12-yr olds' comments? Will a GM-whisper somehow pass through anyway? I mean without any addons.

Any thoughts?

i agree with this. definitely a bit odd. i believe they interact with the character in question before banning.

in shadowbane, the GMs would appear as a huge, disembodied head... it was awesome! (people would start chanting 'big head' when they knew a GM was there). first time i saw it, it totally freaked me out (more like scared the crap out of me). one moment, you're looking across a courtyard, the next... a huge head is looking at you :D

I've had accounts banned during Blizzs banning sprees (not without cause, but still a bit harsh for the offense).... They already decided what their actions will be before they contact you, they only make ontact to see if they get a response. No response means it's more likely you're a bot, and more justified to ban. 30 day bans exist also, but are precursors to permabans.

Anecdotally, I've heard of the Penalty Volcano. Have you?It happened to me, I'll see if I still have the email from Blizz and I'll post it, that was 3 years ago though... Go to any of the WoW hacking sites, you will see where ppl where given a 30 day ban and then permabanned within an hour after.

I would say that this is a mistake by the US GM.

Different policy about this "30 day" thingy than the EU.

I would imagine that due to you teasing the GM (which i found funny as hell) which he didn't like at all it appears the GM passed your account to the Account Admin Dept.

I would recommend to fill in their webform and explain that the GM didn't take too kindly to your antics to your multi boxing demonstration.

Once your all cleared on the issue with AA, there is a email address to complain about the GMs about the specific GM you had.

Please update this thread ONCE the you have heard from Blizzard. (Trolls or other crap that is posted after my reply can/could be deleted)

I really feel that this situation is just unlucky!
