Just went 200 rating up to 1913, looks like 2k will be breached soon again
95% war teams, about 75% winratio
didnt do anything special today, got almost full gear now and oneshots worked well, also won easily against a 2k war/ww monk/feral/disc/rshaman team, usually I can leave against this except I oneshot the monk before his first fists of fury ;))

I just finished grinding 2s (boxing them, works very well at low mmr at least) and am 5/5 griev on most toons, then a lot of off pieces and weapons. finally got the real pvp trinket for the bonus and stam.
I haven't done any 5s yet again, but will soon. I am going to start a new thread with my videos and stuff to not clutter yours up.
PS kitty feral i have found to die really nicely, it could be a good kill target after monk while still in ascendence.

Grats on 2k. What healer are you running with? Ive had good and bad luck with priests, some are really durable, some die right off.
Question, do you have your elementals set on anything like assist passive etc? I noticed in my recordings if I attack a target while sending my elementals in for a stun, often they will come assist before the stun hits. Do you have this problem or have you done something to prevent this?

I made changes to arena hex and the way I use capacitor, I've come up with a better solution rather than hexing arena 1-4 I'm now hexing two dps and then those again as it proves to be more useful. Lets say you got a 3 melee dps with warrior x x 2 heal and they rush in I'm already droping two capacitor slightly spreaded (by spreading the shamans) to cover more area with detonations, detonating after 3 and 5 seconds, as you should know its not on dr with hex so I'm either forcing dispel or trinket and can immediately hex two targets except the warrior afterwards, the warrior will continue to do his dps rotation including bladestorm while I can take out two dps for at least 7 seconds lets say they get dispeld from the capacitor immediately then the second goes of, they're 2,5 sec stunned then a full hex which gets dispelled after 2-3 seconds or due to cooldown from capacitor dispel or trinketed and then half hex. Whilst they sit cc in cooldown the warrior already blew most of his burst out, the warbanner was more or less wasted and ofc in best case my pally didnt need any cds to keep me up, after the cc rotation I drop the other pair of capacitor. This is surely more effective than hexing 4 at once as you will only delay their combined burst, but with double hex on dps with successful capacitor stun you can deny their combined burst and it fucks up their timings.
This is also useful vs caster teams even you might dont get anyone stunned by capacitor you can still double hex lets say shadow/lock while mage blows his cds, I think its more useful to deny the combined burst rather than only delay it but have a short period of time getting no damage.
We also had to deal with a lot of rogue+boomkin teams which proved to be difficult but we found a relative easy solution, as they open on my pally with solar beam+vortex i stay out to range to not get cought by vortex/beam too, I drop grounding, windwalk and 4 hst so he got freedom and some spellprotection and immediately hex rogue/mage, he trinkets the second stun if too much damage comes in, runs out of the beam and uses aura mastery, then he gets pulled back in by vortex but aura mastery is up and he can keep himself alive without needing to bubble or htt sometimes even without using trinket, with the solar beam fading I should've already prepurged my killtarget either boomkin or mage and the game is most likely won from there on.
So choose you hex targets at the beginning and adjust the hex macros, works better for me as hexing all four
Interesting, i do like the combo of double hexing DPS, it really is great to disrupt their opener. I am going to try out my 4x hex a bit more, but might have to switch.
Are you still using unleashed fury or primal elemental? Your armory seems to be stalled. I am still trying to figure out how to have my elementals attack and stun their target while i attack my own, rather than coming to assist me.
Might just be putting pet on passive.
Well i just learned to not do 5s on a monday night. All i faced were 4x warr 1x healer. even trying to spread out for initial burst meant getting behind, while dpsing one means being blended. i got in about 6 games, 4 were all these warr teams. pretty frustrating, but i don't know how much i am allowed to bitch, doing almost the same thing in a different manner.

played with a druid last time, did work out quite well again went to 2060 peak then down to 2030, druid is better than pally against every rogue team but also very squishy with a hard switch on him after tree, however I'll have to do more games to see how it goes, could've been already 2,1k+ but I made quite some terrible mistakes, its funny as this time it really wasnt the emenys team that beated me, just my impatience and misstimings with cooldowns that made us lose, that was the first session that could've been 100% winrate because the enemys team was just so bad in so many ways its almost pathetic to write this but I cant tell you how bad those players were, really really terrible, I'll need more practice once or twice a week is just not enough
druid needs to be very good though I got some multiglad guy there, he had trouble keeping me alive vs almost every comp we faced but we won vs my impossible-to-beat-lineup ww monk war hunter 2 heal and then lost to some random mage/ele/x/x/x wich was just bad played by me
Hey quick question. I find my stormblast+ CDs leaving most people (from full) to about 20% ish hp. I do try to not pop it on a full hp target, but sometimes it happens. So i noticed you have gone pure mastery with gems, and enchants etc. You sit about 10% more mastery and 2000 less AP. Does it work well enough with simple math that 10% extra mastery= 40% more damage (4x10% ea) on ascendence? I assume we then need to factor in resilience and pvp power (you are about 2-3% higher in pvp power). I have not done the theorycrafting thing before, so if you could say how much additional damage you get from going all mastery in ascendence, i would appriciate it.
I also see you are using elemental blast and AS, i am still using primals, to good effect, but might try changing back to blast if i up my mastery.

I'm only using elementals vs stealth teams and in very rare cases against caster teams, eb is just too good in terms of burst
in regards of the mastery/ap math, I'm not totally sure but 10% more mastery means 10% more damage while ascendance with windfury beeing the exception, and otherwise ~2k of 31k ap are like 6% dps increase (where only 65% go to spellpower) and with the socket bonus 0,6% more pvp power, I think the oneshot and more eb damage ist just too important as auto hits arent doing much against plate, as long as I can force 2 blocks followed by death without cooldowns on a mage with 2 healers in his back I'm fine with that
interesting. I think i will regem into mastery. Right now all my gems are +agil and +agil/mastery/pvp power. I also see you have reduced your haste in favor of crit. I might have to play with that as well as crit in ascendence is great, as well crit on heals are very good.
i will do some before and after stormblast hits. get a baseline then we can see how the stormblast hits with mastery vs agility.
Do you generally use ancestrial swiftness on hex or elemental blast?

At the moment exclusively for hex, but sometimes I feel like in certain situations ns eb would be nice, so better have a macro and dont need it than otherwise ;)
I'd be glad if you could do some test with stormblast once with max agil and once with full mastery to see a clear difference, I dont have that much time to try it out so I'd apprechiate it, I have no proof that mastery is better, my second team still has the agi/mastery gemming but gear is not up to date so its not waterproof if I'll do tests with them
And regarding crit, not only that its good for oneshot and heals, it can also trigger flurry which provides haste, also against caster teams where you dont have 100% uptime on targets crit gets better and better depending on how good they kite
Hmm i never thought about haste like that. It's very true my uptime on any target is fairly low, but when i am in contact it would be nice to do the most damage possible. I could see how crit could pull ahead here, though it is rng.
I did about 20 min of testing (waiting on ascendence) to find i wasn't paying attention and someone had buffed me while i was target dummy dpsing. So my results are skewed. At least i didn't change my gems yet.
Well here are my starting stats as they sit now.
AP 32279
Speed 2.20 (currently using echo of the elements, i usually play AS for 1.8 i think speed)
haste 17.92%
Hit 5.34% (high because still have about 4-5 pve pieces on)
Crit 22.55%
Mastery 50.20%
Gems are all agility first and all socket bonus. So mostly 80 agil +pvp power or mastery, as well a few 160 agil. Comparing your character and mine, i stand to lose about 2-3k ap and gain 10+/- % mastery. Will see here in a few min after more testing.
Ok simple baseline. (10261/50.2% mastery) (32,279ap) (15,909/39.77% pvp power)
stormblast MH hit 110k min 119k avg and 129k max
stormblast OH hit 49k min 55k avg and 63k max
stormblast MH Crit 191k min 217k avg 251k max
stormblast OH Crit 117k min 120k avg 123k max

Wow. this is going to need more testing. So far i increased mastery by 8% lost about 2000ap 1.5% pvp power, .75% crit.
My stormblast (over the same test time under same test conditions and spec)
hit 106k avg 119k max 137k
crit 217k avg 222k max 227k
so no matter how you look at it my high end dropped by about 20k while picked up a bit of mid range (could have something to do with the 5.3 ascendence nerf)
to be honest i think my data is messed somehow. Not sure how. i do have dancing steel on, and trinket built into ascendence use. perhaps just too small a sample and somehow it got skewed. As of right now though it looks like the extra 8% mastery did jack all, especially considering the extra loss of pvp power vs a real target.
EDIT i plugged in my character with 60% mastery into sumulatorcraft and got these results for stormblast
hit avg 115284 crit avg 239423
then i plugged in one of my other shaman not yet regemmed and got (32.4 ap, 51.34 mastery)
hit avg 113330 crit avg 235630
So it really looks like the difference is minimal. If you run EB, you will be benefiting more from the mastery
But sadly with the loss of AP, it looks like a 10% increase (or 8) in not a noticeable increase in ascendence damage.

hm interesting, elemental blast also benefits I think 211% of spellpower so I'm not even sure if mastery is better than agil gemming for eb, I might go back to the usual gems
anyways played 3 hours today and went from 2020 to 1940 then 2050 and now somewhere 2030 (somehow we started with ~1880 mmr today no clue what happend), of course 99% warrior teams even double warrior triple heal although I should've won that but there was some misscommunication between my druid and me, however I think since this druid is fully geared and plays very decent, also high rated on a couple of toons, druid is not the best choice, I just need that pally with bubble at the beginning with double bop to survive rogue team openers, my idea was was with the druid sitting in stealth they have to open on me but I forgot that they can oneshot me too while druid is getting spammend with cc :p its still good vs melee double caster/pure caster teams but all we met today was either double triple or quad melee with one exception, so yeah pally might be the way to go this season, bubble/sac is just too good against cc which is the major problem here
the good news is I got a couple of games frapsed just rendering them and upload them later/will link in commons and here

thinking about looking for a mistweaver for my next 5s session, the extra 5% crit buff and ring of peace would be a nice addition to my team but not sure how good this class is for 4 dps healing
I'm also planning to use the procc trinket against certain comps like double/triple melee where I have kill something quickly and need as much firepower as possible, as it proccs really early and almost simultaniously on all toons together with double dancing steel, I'll go for the oneshot within 20 seconds, use the engineering hand enchant together with it and have about the double amount of bonus agility as with the on use trinket, best case 53k ap with oneshot (even more with eb up), its around 150k damage per toon on resilience with one auto hit included and no crit luck, that would increase the oneshot potential quite a bit, also adds more dps
I just did a little testing with the [Assurance of Consequence] which grants 9317 agility, with that alone im up to 51k ap. Though the proc rate seems to either be real crap, or will not overlap with dancing steel. as the only time i got it up was when dancing steel was down (which is rare). Probably coincidence. Added benefit of dropping 30 seconds off ascendance cooldown. Though i find if i haven't won by CD reset it's usually gone bad anyway.
Wow. With both the 9k proc trinket and the on use (496) trinket and without dancing steel i can get to 65k ap. Sadly it is too random to have happen one more than one character. It sounds like the pvp proc trinket is doing better for predictability?
at that AP i was getting 305k mainhand crits (61% mastery at 65k ap) and 158k crit offhands. on a target dummy though, haha.

pve trinkets aren't worth it for the sake of 10% dmg reduction and they're getting scaled down to 512 in arena anyway

well looks like we see season 15 after all. Can not see any class changes. though more ilevel (540) could be fun for one shooting goes down to what they do with resi. Up it or leave it the same and only go off the few bits u get from gems/gear

That entire resilience mechanic is bullshit anyway, the'll have to buff it somewhere to 82% and crit rating will go up to 40%, the more crit the better for us :-)
Just hope for some warrior nerfs and no changes with enhancement
I would think solo enhance needs some buffs personally. Their self heals require a glyph and even with it really not great. Almost no cleave either, though has anyone played around with fire nova?
3minutes is a while to wait to be viable, again talking solo.

How do you play with your spells macio or you run them all when you can when there not not on cooldown, i been using the same way i ran my deathkights on a spam bar but my dps seems to lack a lot to the fact that a group thats really under geared can own the hell in to me in sec's i seem to have next to no dps at all at times.

not sure if I understand that correctly but I'm not really trying to do a perfect dps rotation, I'm using a sl/ll/earthsock castsequence even though I'm aware of losing quite some dps but its always nice to have all 3 spells hitting within 3 seconds to have a higher burst peak, dps is not that important imo, I'm also using arena 1-4 earth and frost shocks sometimes to spread weakened blows and slow.
Broke 2100 today after 2 hours, I've played with pally again and we did surprisingly well against triple melee, although we sucked hard against double caster teams but somehow I didnt land a single oneshot against those double caster teams dont know what was going on but anyway I'm certain of breaking 2.2 next week
Not sure what battlegroup you are on, but for mine 2300 is glad... that would be quite a feat!

its close to 2400 on EU but I'm afraid cutoff size wille be decreased because for now even people with zero rating and only loss also increase it and holinka tweeted something about setting a minimum rating of 1000 to be qualified

That kinda makes sense, right now on my realm i think 5v5 Challenger cutoff is 700 or something haha

Just read mistweaver guide on arena junkies, its like the eurofighter, looks good on paper but will see how this works out on the battlefield, l'm curious :-)
Strong healing output, decent mobility with port and torpedo and nice tools like ring and paralyze, will see how good this works out in 5s environment

depressing session today, went to 2160 and down to 2060 after 3 hours with pally, need to work on stun- warrior kill, any sort of cleave team or anything with two or three caster is easymode unless I screw up with oneshot

2166 peak today had a good streak, went down to 2131 then but overall we had good winratio about 12-5, only played an hour, so its getting closer and closer ;)
Regarding the ap/mastery discussion, what I've read the more ap you have the more important are secondary stats, not sure where the breakpoint is but with all the power ups in ascendance mastery should do better than more ap, if its close now then it should do better next season with new gear

2x vs war/rogue/mage, main got globald right away in smoke both games, one loss vs ele destru mage as a toon got globald while i oneshoted their ele, then messed up with windwalks and couldnt zerg the mage hard enough enough and then to two different melee teams where oneshot got screwed by lucky overlapping ccs and a bit of impatience by me

Not sure if I'll do a session again this season, I was inactive the past weeks since there is not that much time left for wow when studying physics, I'll try to keep it going next season as well and hopefully get a little higher somewhere beyond 2,2k, but anyway I'd like to thank everyone for joining the discussion here 30 pages is quite good considering how few we are nowdays. I have some new macro thoughts and improvements yet untested but I'll sum it up and eventually make a new thread for season 15.
#I have no friends cleave 3 is planned for summer :)
