View Full Version : [WoW] Stuck at 87

My ten man team (4 DKs, 1 priest, 5 monks) is stuck at 87. I can't move to the next zone of quests because they require 88. I don't like dungeons because I can't level both groups at once. I have tried PvP, but taking 10 into IoC worries me. I will be doing the AV weekend, but if it wasn't for that I would be stuck grinding mobs outside dungeons. Anyone have any brilliant ideas for leveling two groups at the same time (not in raid group)?

P.S. Out of desperation I tried RFD and was surprised that I was only getting 6k xp per mob. WTF is up with that? I can kill stuff with 500k health for 18k xp in the outside works that hits like a baby.

I leveled my 10-box as follow doing ONLY quests, as painful as it was.

Jade Forest -> Most of Valley of the 4 Winds -> Krasarang Forest -> back to Valley to Finish it off --> Kun-Lai --> Townlong Steppes --> Dread Wastes

At no point did I run into a situation where I couldn't move forward because I ran out of quests. In fact, I'm not even done with Dread Wastes yet and already hit 90.

If you want to grind out some levels, I suggest going to the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. From there, go to the Ruins of Guo-Lai. You will find a set of stairs where 6 Elite mobs are CONTINOUSLY flowing down.

They hit like a truck, but a 10-box should be fine. They give about 12k XP per kill in a 5-man group and drop decent loot.

I did all of the zones leading up to KunLai and I'm only 87.5(and done with Kun Lai). If I were to grind it would be the yetis in Kun Lai since they are worth 16k fit a group of 5 and 60k solo. (one of my pet peeves with WoW and grouping) if I had done this solo and getting almost 4x XP per kill, this wouldn't be an issue. Or better yet, let me move on to the next zone even if I haven't meet the recommended level.

You can get a two hour xp/rep buff during the Halloween event too. It's not much, but it will add an extra kill's worth of xp every 10 mobs.

Each of my toons has 5k+ gold at 88. Questing is quite profitable.

I hit 90 and still had most of summit to quest in..did you start the the quest that leads to opening the gate so you can get in the faction city zone? ( not sure what that quest is called.. you can start it at 87 as far as i know )

Uh I'm not sure. Did that start in Vale of the Eternal Blossoms? I already did part of it, but at 87 it only lets you go so far. Also to those that think I wasn't questing. I did every quest I could find with the exception of the ridiculous ones and that was only a few. I seem to remember clicking on something that would take forever to respawn and each character had to do it. I'm actually shocked at the amount of quests that DONT give group credit. Some are real WTFs.

edit: after this group I will be using RDF and just grinding to 90. Fuck collection quests x 10.

I thought of a potential difference.

Do you have Battle Standard of Coordination (http://www.wowhead.com/item=64402) x 10 ?

If so, you REALLY should macro it to your DPS spam on round-robin with a 60-second "Do not go to next step for ..." .

That way, with your 10-box the Banner will be dropped once-per-minute and you'll have almost 100% uptime. That is a free 15% extra XP.

The Banner always works across groups - so it does not matter if group 1 or group 2 drops it.

WTF? I always forget about that damn thing. Ill be macroing that into future team macros lol!

Use shodokan's grinding method. First 2 mins of stormstout brewery, you kill 40 mobs for about 200k xp, takes about 2 mins, run out, reset. Gets very decent xp. Yes it is a grind.

I 5 boxxed All of Jade Forest and got the achv, then only did half of valley, none of karasang wilds, all of kun-lai and half of Townlong steppes and I was 90.

10 people in IoC i the 85-89 bracket is no problem AT ALL. I would say a full 1/3 of each team is made up of bots (seperate question, has anyone else noticed there are way better botting programs out there now? The bots actually travel round in packs and spam abilities, you can actually die to them).

Are you Ally, if so, IoC is docks, glaives, boss, win, xp, repeat.

Indeed. I also have it macroed with the Horde Battle Standard (http://www.wowhead.com/item=18607) and anything that is similar. That way I always get the buffs without having to ever remember to drop them.

If you were using this to level, wouldn't you reach the instance lockout, five resets in an hour?
Or can you just leave, disband the group, reform and it has reset?

No lockout with the dungeon finder. Leave instance group, leave regular group then reform and queue

I'd say they are actually all using the same and most popular bot out there, which is why they travel in packs and spam attacks as one. Botting is a huge issue in leveling bgs atm.

Good god the quests in Townlong Steps (88-89)... I just don't know how to convey how ball-sucking bad they are. Collect 20... yep, followed by collect 10 and a lot more collects. There is one collect that takes probably 30mins per character, but I just abandoned it after seeing how rare the stuff was (something willow). But that's not the most rage inducing: at Farwatch Overlook south of Rensai's Watchpost there is a group of insects bombing Farwatch Marksmen. I went in there with 10 characters and the area is bombed based on the number of characters in the area. So the first time my guys got blown all over the map and died. You know how hard it is to res and collect your group while you're getting bombed? Best part was I would run far away and as soon as I got anywhere near it the bombs would start.

I finally figured out I could send in one character and get the credit for all of them as they stood out of bomb range. Fuck that quest, made me so GD mad.

This is off topic, but thought I'd share since it is funny.

The item you are referring to is Mao-Wilow (http://www.wowhead.com/item=82389) . Māo (貓) is Mandarin for cat, making this pussy willow.

It all inspired me...to rage! And the Simpsons.

The only sucky part of dungeon leveling is that there are no drops except for the rare green/blue, no cloth etc. It kinda sucks :(

There seems to be VERY few in Jade Temple and pretty much nothing in Stormstout Brewery.

I thought you were doing AV. I leveled from 89 to 90 entirely in AV. Took a good 8-9 hours but it wasn't too bad. I used the time to hammer out my pvp macros/ keybinds etc. Hordes get instant queues. For allies, maybe you just quest/grind motes until queue pop. The only thing is you can't buy the level 90 honor gear until level 90. So the honor you gain past 4000 are wasted, maybe can exchange some level 85 mats I guess. Also you have to plan ahead on how to gear your toons. PVP honor gear is definitely the easiest and fastest way to gear up, even for PVE.

Then go do the level 90 scenario for level 450 weapons (can only do 3 at a time,).

Same, I think by the time I hit Townlong I was numb to the gathering.

I have found that using the addon from Wow-pro.com works wonders with Jamba. It is a questing addon so i never miss a quest in any of the MOP areas

I'm always hesitant to try a new addon recommendation unless there is a large following. I don't like to lose my stuff :(
