What is the best way with the least amount of lag if any to use my keyboard and mouse on my laptop and my desktop at the same exact time. I don't want to switch between the two.

That's exactly what I need to do but I am looking for something less expensive.

I used input director and it was laggy a bit. The mouse was perfect but the keyboard would not react on both computers at the same time. The client sometimes did not input all keystrokes.

This is not for an MMO, it is for a rhythm game. And if it works well, I will use this same concept in other games and even in multiplayer FPS's :)

I asked this on tom's hardware's forum and someone recommended using a switch but I don't want to switch back and forth between 2 PC's. I want to use the keyboard on both simultaneously.

keyclone or isboxer both would do it imo. i don't experience any lag at all across pc's, although isboxer has mouse support and kc doesn't atm

Did not even launch with isboxer since the game is incompatible with the software.

Keyclone I got everything to connect but nothing happened between the two PC's at all... I spent a few hours trying to get everything to work.

If you're not using a registered keyclone, it won't work on multiple PCs.

Keyclone doesn't have the best mouse broadcasting. You could try HotKeyNet.

Ugh that software is very confusing. I can't get the two PC's to connect. I think I'll try input director again and see if it will work better this time.

If I got my soldering tool out, could I make my own splitter that would connect to my keyboard and have 2 outputs, each going to one PC? I'm not sure if it would actually work.

For PS/2, yes. For USB, no.
